Job Purpose

Will be directly responsible for machining quality components to stated specifications. Will be directly responsible for protecting machine tools from damage caused by “Crashes.” The ability to independently interpret specified requirements is a must. The position requires a high degree of independent thinking, attention to detail, and resourcefulness to translate specifications into component requirements and apply the best practices effectively. Work under direct supervision. Receives guidance with difficult technical and scheduling problems. Accuracy of machined components is required.

Job Description

  • Effectively retrieve, understand, and adhere to QAP documentation.
  • Possess and demonstrate basic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use technical tools and instruments required to perform duties. Tools and instruments include but not limited to: Calipers, Micrometers, and Gauges.
  • Demonstrates proficiency to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ability to identify simple deviation in material requirements.
  • Read and interpret set-up documentation.
  • Ability to demonstrate fixturing, tool and machine offsets.
  • Ability to read the program.
  • Ability to perform basic preventative maintenance/autonomous maintenance.
  • Ability to perform set up & check parts with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in addition to key performance objectives.
  • Perform and understand basic 5S principles.
  • Basic understanding of how to read and use measuring instruments.
  • Ability to run a grinder, basic mills, and two-axis lathes.
  • Proficient in running machines such as basic two-axis lathes and a saw.

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Generally, less than 2 years’ experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Previous inspection experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in shop environment.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Good Problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good organization, interpersonal, and interaction skills.
  • Demonstrated math skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Acceptable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to unplanned events and changing priorities.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to receive on the job training.

Work Environment:

Spends 95% of the time in a manufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in limited spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.

Physical Demands:

Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in limited workspaces, and repetitive lifting of components up to 50 lbs.
