Job Purpose

The Senior Automation Engineer shall create, verify and qualify engineering solutions for both subsea and topside applications, supporting customer value-driven purpose in the Automation & Controls business in the oil and gas industry, in particular challenging product development environments in accordance with TechnipFMC standards and processes, and also following the best practices according to Lean Product and Process Development frameworks. Secure compliance on safety, quality, performance, and configurability on controls and automation products and system designs of TechnipFMC products according to legislation, industry standards and customer requirements. This role requires staying updated on technological advances, particularly in automation, electronics, communication, power, networking, sensing and robotics. At the senior level, responsibilities include managing customer expectations and ensuring product quality throughout the project's life cycle—from tender to field operations.

Job Description

  • Work cross functionally with product engineers, architecture engineers, system engineers and software engineers to ensure products meet controls and automation business success criteria.
  • Collaborate with other engineering areas at TechnipFMC, as well with the whole value stream representative areas at Controls and Automation department during project execution, to guarantee an integrated solution that meets the system and product life cycle requirements.
  • Identify and create new technologies and ideas to increase the organization’s intellectual property and to better address customer needs.Responsible for selection of design concepts, development platforms, development tools, component families and design methodologies for relevant scope in controls and automation integrated with system solutions.
  • Conduct project development tasks for the hardware development activities in accordance with industrial standards and main business requirements, performing detailed design and conducting functional verification.
  • Perform technical review of design concepts and conduct product development main tasks according to TechnipFMC standards and process.
  • Participate in communications with internal and external customers when relevant.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for development of new products and systemsEstablish component, product and subsystem specifications.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art technology, methodology and know-how to achieve cost optimum designs with high quality and performance.
  • Execute qualification programs on components, product and system level including functional, environmental, system operation mode.
  • Maintain developer competence and obtain relevant new competence required for new development projects.
  • Familiarize with relevant standards for subsea control systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree - Engineering.
  • CREA
  • Fluent English (global team)
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with testing tools for web application such as Playwright or Cypress
  • Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Test Management Tool - X-Ray
  • Experience working in cross-functional team using Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
  • Exposure to the principals of Industrial Protocols, Platforms and APIs:  OPC UA, Profibus, Modbus (RTU, TCP).
  • Very good understanding of QA best practices (including test scenario management and reporting tools).
  • Understanding of Hardware In the Loop (HIL), Software In the Loop (SIL)
  • Exposure to Configuration Management tools (Version control, bug tracking, change management, automated builds, and coding standards)
  • Basic knowledge of Monitoring and Observability tools is a plus;
