Job Purpose

  • Management of subcontracts for services in the Subsea Construction Business.
  • Depending on project organization the scope of work may also include the supervision of the procurement team to provide a consolidated view and be accountable of all the 3rd party commitments to the Project Manager

Job Description

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Providing assistance to the Project Manager to produce the Project Execution Plan, including a detailed subcontracting and procurement plan
  • Monitoring and updating the subcontracting plan to ensure that key dates within the master project schedule is achieved
  • Preparation of standard terms and conditions of subcontract, modified where necessary to incorporate the requirements of the main contract
  • Preparation of Invitation to Tender packages in conjunction with project engineers
  • Evaluation of tenders negotiation with tenderers and preparation of Recommendation of Award for approval by the Project Manager and Senior Management
  • Evaluation and agreement of subcontractor interim progress claims
  • Assessment, negotiation and agreement of subcontractor variations and claims
  • Ensuring that Contra Charges are collated and recovered from subcontractor’s accounts
  • Evaluation, negotiation and agreement of Subcontractor final accounts
  • Assist cost controller and project manager with development of the Work Estimate
  • Forecasting of cost at completion for major subcontractor and suppliers
  • Verifications that cost to date, accruals and comments in respects to subcontractors and major procurement packages are accurate and reconcile with account information
  • Providing input into Project Management reports and other management reports as required
  • Ensuring the terms and conditions of the Subcontracts or Purchase Orders are appropriate for the nature of the goods or services being obtains and that the requirements of the main contract are incorporated into the purchase order on a back to back basis where appropriate
  • Where necessary, assisting Purchasing/ Procurement with the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions and evaluations of tenders
  • Assisting the purchasing or procurement team with the evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims and variations
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with the Management system procedures which directly affect the work undertaken.

Qualifications :

  • Commerce/ Business qualification to degree level (such as Quantity Surveyor)

Knowledge/Skills :

  • A sound understanding of the principles of contracts law and business ethics and the contractual / commercial principles adopted within the industry
  • Understanding of scheduling programs such as Microsoft Project and Primavera(desirable)
  • Understanding of cost control(desirable)

Experience :

  • A background in project engineering/ construction management or offshore/on shore oil and gas industries
  • At least 6 years relevant experience as Subcontracts/Contracts Engineer
  • Experience in Subsea construction (desirable)
  • Experience in vessels chartering (desirable)

Personal Attributes :

  • Good negotiation, verbal and written communication skills in English
