Job Purpose

Chief/Lead Marine Electricians (ETOs) on PLSVs are responsible for monitoring all electrical and electronic equipment on board, maximizing the operational safety and efficiency of the ship, reporting to the Chief of Engineers.
ETO work in association with engineering and nautical officers for all challenges relating to machinery and electro-hydraulic technology, in order to guarantee safe operations and routine maintenance of the generation vessel power, propulsion, auxiliary systems and other electromechanical and electronic systems that are part of the job.

Job Description

- Ensure you are familiar with machines and electrical-electronic systems so that, in an emergency, essential services can be safely and quickly restored. In addition, you must have a complete understanding of the company's procedures, policies and instructions to comply with them;

- Must assist with research work as directed by a senior officer;

- Must ensure that any information included in maintenance records is accurate. Your manual notes will provide comprehensive coverage of your work during your time on the vessel and will ensure that all manuals and drawings relating to your work are up to date;

- Will notify Chief Engineer of replacement equipment and workshop requirements; - Must be fully familiar with relevant codes of practice;

- Must keep the Deputy Chief and Chief Engineer fully informed of the progress of any work carried out. You must report any defects or problems found in your area of ​​responsibility;

- Must be familiar with the electrical plant in the unit, in particular the SCR system;

- Must be trained as Person Responsible for the Permit to Work System (PTW) and isolations (Level 3).

You are meant for this job if:

- Completed training in Electrical Technician

Intermediate/advanced English, with conversation.
