Job Purpose

The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and operation of a company's fleet of vehicles for US operations. This role ensures that all vehicles are in good working condition, comply with regulations, internal policies and are used efficiently.

Job Description

 

  • Purchase and lease vehicles to expand or update the fleet.
  • Monitor the fleet for disposal and replacement.
  • Work with service bases to forecast vehicle orders.
  • Manage vehicle registration, insurance, and licensing.
  • Develop and implement policies for vehicle use and maintenance.
  • Utilize a web-portal interface to manage leased vehicle and liaison with the leasing vendor to ensure timely approvals and cost management.
  • Periodically inspect service bases for vehicle compliance.
  • Approve and manage leasing vendor invoice approval.
  • Monitor maintenance and inspections for all vehicles.
  • Provide reports to managers and leadership.
  • Coordinate urgent or emergency repairs as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspections.
  • Consult with field operations for repair approvals and strategy.
  • Monitor and maintain in vehicle monitoring systems (GPS) for driver and vehicle assignments for accuracy.
  • Assist with accident investigation by providing timely records from monitoring systems.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory agencies (Federal and State).
  • Produce a monthly driving scorecard report for service bases.
  • Manage 3rd party driver qualification suppliers.
  • Look for innovations and technology to improve fleet and driver safety.

 

 

 

You are meant for this job if:

  • BS/BA (preferred) or equivalent industrial work experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Skilled with cost spreadsheets, presentations to management, driver communications and utilization of Microsoft office tools or equivalent software.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to manage a small team and coordinate efficiently.
  • Experience with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • 5-10 years of fleet coordination or fleet management.
