Job Purpose

The Pre-Award Engineering team contains multidiscipline Engineers responsible for the product design and the delivery of FEED and proposal technical packages. Through the production of these packages the team aims to fix the package design and reduce project risk as far as reasonably practical.

Job Description

•    Review specifications and apply client / local and international requirements to the umbilical design and technical package
•    Design the Umbilical package to satisfy Engineering, manufacturing and commercial requirements
•    Develop a technical package for FEED's and proposals to demonstrate technical compliance / fitness for purpose of the proposed package
•    Identify risks and ensure appropriate reviews and mitigations are undertaken
•    Work closely with Proposals & Front End, R&D, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Post-Award Engineering, PMA

 

Main duties

•    Ensure that department and company QHS&E objectives and targets are met
•    Specification Review, assessment against internal standards and creation of a preliminary design basis and technical qualifications
•    Design / verification of the umbilical components
•    Design of the umbilical bundling arrangement and co-axial layers working with the Process team to ensure suitability for manufacture and safety in the design
•    Analysis of the umbilical structure to prove fitness for purpose including but not limited to:
             o    Cross section design verification
             o    Manufacturing Analysis
             o    Strength, Installation & In-place assessments
             o    Crush and clamp capacity through FEA
             o    Thermal & Impact performance (calcs and FEA)
             o    Free span and Vortex Induced Vibration analysis
             o    Local Fatigue analysis
•    Completing FEED and Proposal Reports containing the above to the required schedule is essential in Pre-award
•    Ensuring work is completed to client requirements, standards and procedures
•    Contribute to department goals and improvement activities
•    Identification of risks and determining mitigations with lead or manager and proposals team
•    Working as umbilical specialist within a global project teams on iEPCI Concept and FEED projects
 

You are meant for this job if:

Essential:
Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline - preferably Mechanical or Subsea Engineering. Qualifications that included an MV/HV electrical component are also of interest
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, excel and powerpoint

Desirable:
Experience delivering against challenging schedules in a proposals, bid environment
Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD
Experience with Engineering software such as MathCAD, Orcaflex and Abaqus
Experience in SURF Engineering
Experience with developing lean best practices
