Job Purpose

As a Test Services Technician, you will prepare and test umbilical samples, operate test equipment and rigs, and accurately report all findings in line with relevant procedures and specifications. You will contribute to the safe, efficient and high‑quality operation of the department while supporting continuous improvement and teamwork.

Job Description

  • Prepare, assemble and record umbilical test samples, including hose, cable and fibre optic components.
  • Set up test equipment and rigs, contributing to equipment development and improvements where required.
  • Perform testing activities on umbilical components using appropriate procedures, equipment and instrumentation.
  • Install, instrument, calibrate and monitor umbilical samples during testing.Prepare and terminate qualification samples for testing.
  • Report test findings clearly and accurately in line with specifications.
  • Support the development of bespoke testing apparatus to meet new or evolving requirements.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and participate in 5S activities.
  • Promote and follow safe working practices, supporting all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and assist colleagues to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Train others in new technologies, skills and procedures as required.
  • Carry out additional duties to support departmental efficiency and upkeep.

You are meant for this job if:

Essential:

  • Mechanical and Electrical background
  • ONC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • General engineering experience.

 

Desirable:

  • Hydraulic and/or electrical testing experience.
  • Experience with computerised systems, including data manipulation and graphing in Microsoft Excel.
  • Background in data acquisition and familiarity with electronic testing equipment such as data loggers, sensors and transducers.
