Job Purpose

The purpose of the Product Performance Engineer within Subsea Drilling Services is to support customer facing North America Subsea Drilling Services (SDS) Group by providing technical assistance, triage support, performance trend monitoring, access to product expertise, and product improvements.  Product Performance Engineer will provide an essential feedback loop to fully understand the total value stream performance of Subsea Drilling Products in NAM, which enables annual business justification and investments to improve or develop products. They will lead Root Causes Analysis from onshore/offshore Downtime events and other major events, and will closely work with Installation Engineers and Technical Manager in Houston to gather all the inputs needed to perform the root cause analysis (RCA) such as Rig Data, Pictures before and after mistrips, shop teardown etc.

Job Description

  • Reports through SDS Technical Manager in Brazil but will be fully accountable to all deliverables to North America (NAM) SDS Technical Manager, based out of Houston. 
  • Closely work with Lead Engineers, Project Managers (PMs) and Technical Manager based out of Houston to lead NAM RCA investigations and related 8D Analyses.
  • Works on NAM SDS related failure investigations, including identifying, executing and implementing corrective actions and product improvements.
  • Monitors product performance trends of Subsea Drilling products, identifies product improvement and new product development opportunities.
  • Solves problems to improve underperforming products through the full value stream of Subsea Drilling products (design, supply chain, manufacturing, installation and life of field operations)
  • Work with SDS Global Service Line (GSL) to compare and build data pertaining to past product performance, past NPT events and product reliability.
  • Utilizes prescribed RCA methodology to lead RCA investigations by involving all critical NAM Stakeholders.
  • Collaborates and networks globally with peers, technical experts and Technical Authority on performance-based issues, product improvements and operational learnings.
  • Utilizes corporate knowledge management tools, to share and gain technical knowledge around product performance issues and learnings.
  • Develops or provides input into solutions to cross-organizational, complex and obstacle ridden problems, to bring full lifecycle stability for our products globally.
  • Applies sound engineering principles to achieve results with the safety and health of people and the environment at the forefront of their priority.
  • Provides NAM QN support when urgent/ongoing RCA workload is low.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • CREA
  • Experience in the O&G industry, 
  • Experience in Subsea Drilling Systems in Field or shop environment, preferred
  • Experience running Root Cause Analysis (RCA), HAZID, HAZOP.
