Job Purpose
The Engineer Officer (Third Engineer Officer / 3OM) of the PLSVs shall assume the tasks assigned or directed by the Deputy Chief Engineer.
Job Description
- Comply with the provisions of the “Standing Orders of the Chief Engineer”
- Ensure that the Work Permit System is being followed by the Marine Department.
- Must be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment under the responsibility of the Engineer Department
- Must be responsible for supervising the Engineer Department personnel and assigning responsibilities with regard to maintenance and operation tasks
- Must be familiar with the machinery and systems so that, in an emergency, essential services can be restored safely and quickly. In addition, must have a full understanding of the company’s procedures, policies and instructions and comply with them. Must ensure that subordinates are properly trained
- Must be aware of Class requirements and be responsible for preparing machinery for lifting as instructed by Chief Engineer
- Must be responsible for ensuring that information in the Engine Log Book (RM), maintenance log, water condition records and other information as required is accurate and up to date. His/her handover notes must provide a comprehensive coverage of his/her work during his/her period of service on the vessel
- Responsible for advising the Chief Engineer on spare equipment requirements

- Professional registration required: Certificate of Competence (COC) – III/1

- Experience in the field: As an Engineer Officer
- English: Intermediate
