Job Purpose
Maritime Electrician on board PLSV's is in charge of safe and efficient operations of the ship's electric plant. He/she must execute all services of his/her specialty according to the determinations and supervision of Electro-technical Officers (ETO's) in order to keep all appliances, electrical installations and lighting fixtures correctly operating
Job Description
- He/she must be familiarized with the electrical plant of the unit, in particular de SCR system
- He/she must be familiarized with machinery and systems so that in an emergency situation essential services may be safely and quickly restored. Additionally, he/she must be a full understanding of, and respect, procedures of the Company, policies and instructions
- Attends the machinery room during vessel maneuvers and in any emergency situation
- Inspect, with the due antecedence, the internal communications system, navigation lights, internal lights, cranes, gypsy heads, conservative groups, rudder machines, as well as all electric and electronic equipment and motors of board control and automation, by always keeping them in good operation conditions
- Have under his/her responsibility all materials, tools and appliances related to his/her specialty, preserving them and and taking due caution.
- He/she must help with the research work as instructed by a senior officer
- He/she must ensure that any information entering maintenance logs is accurate. Their notes shall reach a wide scope of their work during the engagement period on board the ship and they must ensure all work-related manuals and drawings are kept updated.
- He/she shall notify the Chief Engineer / Electro-Technical Officer about transmission requirements and must have under his/her responsibility all materials, tools and appliances related to his/her specialty, preserving them and and taking due caution.
- He/she shall keep the Second Engineer and ETO fully informed about the progress of any works. He/she must inform any defects or problems found in their area of responsibility
