Job Purpose
Job Description
- Maintain all lifesaving and firefighting equipment to ensure emergency readiness through regular inspection and preservation activities.
- Ensure all navigation equipment is operating correctly and that the bridge is prepared for sea as required by regulations.
- Report equipment defects and irregularities to support safe navigation.
- Prepare nautical charts, passage plans, and navigation documentation.
- Ensure all nautical charts, publications, and navigational warnings are updated and corrected.
- Act as Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) when required and appropriately certified.
- Support the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Representative and Medic in onboarding and familiarization activities.
- Assist the HSE Representative in maintaining safety communications, updating safety notices, and supporting Safety Committee activities.
- Review company Safety Notices, Circulars, and Management System updates during crew changes to remain current with procedures and standards.
- Serve as GMDSS Operator, ensuring safe and compliant vessel communications.
- Support the Master in maintaining the Management System and ensuring operational compliance.
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor's Degree or maritime education from ASON or EFOMM.
- Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.
- Previous offshore experience, preferably onboard PLSV, Drillship, or AHTS vessels.
- Strong knowledge of navigation systems, DP operations, maritime safety requirements, and communication systems.
- Experience with nautical chart corrections, passage planning, and bridge operations.
Preferred
- APNT (Advanced Nautical Training).
Mandatory Certifications
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) – STCW II/1 and IV/2.
- Full DP Certificate issued by The Nautical Institute.
- Seaman's Registration and Record Book (CIR) – Second Navigation Officer (2ON).
- STCW TBS1 Unified.
- Valid offshore mandatory certificates.
