Job Purpose

The Engineer Officer onboard PLSV vessels is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vessel machinery and engineering systems. The role includes supervising maintenance activities, supporting emergency preparedness, maintaining accurate technical records, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable maritime regulations.

Job Description

  • Operate and supervise vessel machinery, engineering systems, and equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Coordinate and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities in compliance with company procedures, maritime regulations, and industry standards.
  • Supervise Engine Department personnel, assigning tasks and promoting a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety management systems, including Permit to Work (PTW) requirements and company policies.
  • Support the planning and execution of major repairs, dry dockings, inspections, and planned maintenance programs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational, maintenance, and technical records.Respond effectively to emergency situations, supporting the safe and timely restoration of critical vessel systems.
  • Monitor spare parts inventories and communicate equipment and material requirements to support operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with Classification Society requirements, statutory regulations, and company procedures.
  • Review safety notices, technical updates, and operational procedures to maintain awareness of current requirements and best practices.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent maritime education obtained through ASOM, EFOMM, or ATOM training programs.
  • Valid Officer of the Watch (Engineering) Certificate of Competency and all mandatory STCW certifications required for offshore operations.
  • Previous experience as an Engineer Officer onboard DP2 or DP3 vessels, preferably PLSVs and MPSVs.
  • Solid knowledge of marine machinery operation, maintenance systems, and offshore safety procedures.
  • Experience working within Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and Permit to Work (PTW) frameworks.
  • Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.

 

Mandatory Certifications

  • Certificate of Competency (CoC) – STCW Regulation III/1
  • Engine Department (APMA – Advanced Training for Engineer Officers
  • Seaman's Registration and Record Book (CIR) – Second Engineer Officer (2OM)
  • Valid STCW certificates and offshore mandatory training required for the position.
