Job Purpose

  • Management of subcontracts for services in the Subsea Construction Business. The typical subcontracted services include:
  • Chartering of construction vessels, transportation vessels & support vessels
  • Fabrication of structures and rigid spools
  • Offshore Survey and Pre-commissioning
  • Rental of equipment for construction vessels
  • Miscellaneous services offshore, including provision of personnel and logistics
  • Depending on project organization the scope of work may also include the supervision of the procurement team to provide a consolidated view and be accountable of all the 3rd party commitments to the Project Manager

Job Description

  • Create, monitor and manage the procurement and subcontracting plan to ensure that key dates within the master project schedule is achieved
  • Lead small team members including assistance with the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions and evaluations of tenders and settlement of claims
  • Maintain project reporting requirements
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with the Management system procedures
  • Package Award: 
  • Preparation of Invitation to Tender packages in conjunction with project engineers including QHSE documentation
  • Allocation and negtiation of standard terms and conditions of subcontract,
  • Selection of bidders within the approved vendors list in coordination with the category management
  • Commercial evaluation & negotiation with tenderers and preparation for Award
  • Package Administration: 
  • Kick off meetings and defining suitable administrative processes
  • Writing contractual letters
  • RFQs, instructions, variation requests and variation orders
  • Evaluation and agreement of subcontractor interim progress claims and invoicing
  • Assessment, negotiation and agreement of subcontractor variations and claims
  • Evaluation, negotiation and agreement of Subcontractor final accounts & closeout

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor Degree or Other relevant education: Engineering, Commerce or Business such as Construction Management, Quantity Surveyor or Supply Chain
  • A background in project engineering/ construction management or offshore oil and gas industries
  • A sound understanding of the principles of contracts law and business ethics and the contractual / commercial principles adopted within the industry
  • Good negotiation, verbal and written communication skills in English
  • At least 5 years relevant experience as Subcontracts/Contracts Engineer
  • Experience in vessels chartering
  • Experience in fabrication for oil and gas products
  • Basic knowledge of oil and gas standards/ regulation/ procedures is preferred
  • Understanding of SAP or Oracle
  • Understanding of schedules including baselines, milestone dates and float
  • Understanding of cost control, cashflow and forecasting
