Job Purpose

Job purpose and the mission of Technical Manager RLWI Well Access Systems is to provide technical governance and support across the RLWI value stream to strengthen RLWI services.
Technical Manager defines technical solutions during studies, tenders, projects, new product developments in the accordance with the organisation’s agreed technical and commercial strategy with a continuous focus on quality, commercial and safety awareness, on-time and on budget delivery and customer satisfaction.

Job Description

As the Overall Technical Authority, the Technical Manager will set the technical direction for the RLWI Value Stream, working closely with the Technical and Engineering Management to implement the agreed strategy. The role is not just enforcing a plan but ensuring it aligns with the bigger picture and helps the team stay focused on what's important.
A big part of Technical Manager's day-to-day role will involve practicing Lean methodology. The Technical Manager should be looking for ways to simplify processes, reduce inefficiencies and encourage continuous improvement. The role should be a key source of technical guidance across the Value Stream and with clients when needed, making sure projects meet regulatory, industry and customer requirements.

ADDITIONAL SCOPE INFORMATION

Technical Manager plays a role in safeguarding the intellectual property (IP) within the Value Stream, ensure it's properly managed and used strategically to benefit the business.
The Technical Manager will oversee training materials and product information and its availability on relevant internal platforms.
The Technical Manager will be a driving force in ensuring that technical operations are aligned with strategic goals, cost efficiency and industry standards, while continuously seeking ways to improve and innovate within the RLWI systems and solutions.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.Technical Advisory for RLWI Engineering:
• Ensure that operational needs and strategic goals align across projects and initiatives.
• Ensure that operational requirements are effectively integrated into system design, recognizing the cost drivers and ensuring optimal solutions are implemented.
• Be adept at identifying system interfaces and understand functional interactions to ensure the smooth execution of operations.

2. Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Tenders, and Studies:
• Play an advisory role and provide insight into the best technical strategies.
• Support Business Development, Product Marketing, and Strategy by aligning the technical direction with the company's growth plans, New Product Development (NPD),and service catalog.
• Assist Business Development & Sales team in promoting system solutions to customers, offering technical insights to bolster commercial efforts.

3. Project Management and Execution:
• Provide technical support and guidance to projects.
• Attend system and operational reviews.
• Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into projects.

4. Development Programs and Product Performance:
• Lead and support ongoing development programs.
• Engage in product performance issues when critical.
• Evaluate proposals for enhancements.
• Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into product development.

You are meant for this job if:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/FORMAL EDUCATION:
• BSs/MSc (Petroleum/Subsea/Marine/Mechanical as relevant).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 7-10 years of the relevant experience in leading engieering, technical expert roles.
• Offshore experience is nice to have.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND/OR PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS:
• Expert level in system and discipline knowledge.
• Strong product and design knowledge, cost awareness.
• Strong knowledge of business processes, engineering tools, standards and codes.
• Competitors, customers and suppliers awareness.
• Experience in FEED/Studies/Tenders, project engineering execution.
• Operational knowledge of products outside own product family.

REQUIRED MANAGERIAL SKILLS:
• Skilled in technical leadership.
• Experienced in coaching engineering on technical issues.
• Capable of solving complex technical issues.
• Capable of leading remote engineering activities.
