We are looking for a System Engineer!

The System Engineer is an integral in all phases of project execution, including both Win-it and Do-it.

During FEED and tender phases, the system engineer works closely with the Tender Technical Manager in understanding client and internal needs, drivers and requirements and translating these into one or multiple systems concepts which are documented and presented to our clients.

After a contract award this position is responsible to ensure systems engineering is performed within the project and the generation of associated system technical documentation. The System Engineer works across multiple disciplines and is responsible for the overall system specification and integrity of the technical project solution considering all life-cycle phases of the development.

A key responsibility of this role is that the system engineering performs the lead role for WP05 ensuring that all documentation and activities are performed on time and to an agree quality. The System Engineer works closely with the Project Engineering Manager and is their deputy when required. The System Engineer also performs a technical leadership role within the project, both leading and supporting in solving complex technical issues affecting multiple disciplines, liaising and driving agreement of both internal and external interfaces and preparing input to variation orders and management of change processes.  

Job Description

  • Ensure that the system engineering activities are planned and performed in accordance with GBMS.
  • Perform project mobilization activities as defined by the project engineering manager
  • Responsible to establish the project system requirements including preparation for System Design Review (DR-1) and follow-up the product lines ensuring products comply with project requirements including interfaces.
  • Create and issue typical system documents and drawings such as: Design Basis/System Specification, Field Layout, Spare Parts & Tagging philosohpy, P&ID’s, Outline Test Program, Spare Part list
  • Ensure that system interfaces are established and maintained to safeguard the system integrity and performance
  • Maximize the use of standard products, and ensure that any new products, which are not specified as a standard product, are approved by the respective product group before being offered or implemented.
  • Initiate and supervise technical clarifications with customer.
  • Participate and manage internal meetings, review boards and project meetings and technical meetings with Company, as required.
  • Ensure that the customer requirements/regulatory requirements in national and international standards and expectations together with FMC experiences are established in the system documentation and associated documents and data files that form the technical basis for all the work to be performed for fields in operation by the product groups and teams.
  • Be responsible for required analysis work and ROV access as a verification of the chosen system solution or modification.
  • Initiate and participate during preparation and review of system test procedures and documentation for operation and maintenance.
  • Review, prepare or provide input to specifications for system tests.
  • Perform and participate in project closeout activities, such as as-built documentation, experience transfer, close-out report, etc.

You are meant for this job if:

  • BSc with minimum 9 years' experience, or
  • MSc/PhD with minimum 8 years' experience

(Work experience can compensate for lack of formal competency)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in System Engineering/Project Engineering
  • Multidiscipline knowledge and interest
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to lead teams
