Payroll Lead

Job Purpose
Job Description
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for Norway, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Ensure full compliance with Norwegian labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory reporting (e.g., Altinn, A-melding)
- Manage relationships with external payroll providers, authorities, and auditors
- Lead and support payroll team activities, including workload planning and performance management
- Maintain and improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and IT on employee data and system integrations
- Ensure accurate handling of benefits, pensions, sick pay, and leave in line with Norwegian regulations
- Monitor payroll-related risks and implement mitigation measures
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support payroll-related projects (e.g.,payroll provider and system implementations)
- Provide payroll reporting, analytics, and insights to support business decisions
- Handle escalations and ensure high-quality employee support and service delivery
You are meant for this job if:
- Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field
- Extensive experience in payroll management within Norway
- Strong knowledge of Norwegian payroll legislation, tax rules, and reporting (e.g., A-melding, Altinn)
- Proven experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
- Strong understanding of pensions, benefits, sick pay, and collective agreements in Norway
- Leadership experience, including managing and developing a payroll team
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Experience in process improvement and payroll transformation projects (e.g., system implementations)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Fluency in Norwegian and English (both written and spoken)
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit requirements
