Job Purpose

The role of Technical  Requirements Engineering (TRE) is a global technical Lead role within Core Technologies, providing the global One Engineering organisation with expert knowledge and practice within technical requirement governance and change management associated with foundation requirements within the scope of Materials engineering and associated special processes.

The role involves the responsibility to supports global REMS and Project organisations in the disciplines of governance and management of change of technical requirements; it does this through dedicated technical requirements engineers, who work closely with the governing discipline and change networks (such as FSG, the Foundation Specification Governance system).

The Technical Requirements Engineering (TRE) discipline is a professional engineering discipline that operates in all stages of the key TechnipFMC value stream (pre-Tender to Installation and Services) to create a robust flow of engineering requirements, mostly in the special process and other specialist disciplines.

Job Description

The TRE specialist is expected to work as a subject matter expert within governance of technical requirements, specifically within the disciplines of Special Processes (Materials Technology and Engineering related to manufacturing processes)

  • Support, develop and improve technical requirement systems solutions (TCE structural governance) within the scope of Core Technologies and its interface to stakeholders.
  • ensuring that technical requirements (e.g. as defined in specifications and the Requirements Matrix, RM [formerly Quality Matrix, QM]) meet customer and third-party authority requirements in an efficient and cost-effective way.
  • facilitating implementation of gaps in technical requirements from customer technical specifications
  • Support and lead activities supporting simplification, standardization and industrialization efforts in One Engineering through governance and MOC of technical requirements and a lean standard way of working
  • Guide and support the stakeholder community (R&D, Product, Tender and Project) to establish, maintain and develop governance routines that ensures predictability in execution

Mentoring colleagues and stakeholders in the field of technical requirements engineering covering:  

  • Improvement, maintenance and implementation of the foundational specifications and identifying the correct documentations for specifications (within Engineering or Pre/Post Manufacturing documents)
  • Developing and supporting project lead, product-responsible and engineering personnel related to TRE with on-the-job user training
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining design guidelines and controlling inputs for clean-up and simplification of the product requirements. 

You are meant for this job if:

  • Engineer degree:  with M. Sc. or equivalent
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant product-design or materials engineering experience (minimum 3+ years specific relevant experience)
  • Knowledgeable within special processes (Welding, Forging, NDE, coating etc.)
  • Skilled in complex technical requirements engineering and problem solving
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards related to special processes and product
  • Expert knowledge within TCE BOM and assembly structures and technical requirements management within the TCE PLM system
  • Knowledge of lean tools, philosophies, and practices
