Job Purpose

Welding Lead with deep expertise in small bore tubing, TIG welding, and orbital welding equipment for oil and gas operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with high-performance materials such as super duplex, alloy steel, and Inconel, and possess strong knowledge of material combinations, welding codes, and standards. This role involves leading welding activities, participating in technical discussions, conducting root cause analysis (RCA), and driving continuous improvement

Job Description

  • Lead and supervise welding operations, focusing on small bore tubing and TIG welding knowledge on using orbital welding equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME Section IX, API 1104, AWS D1.1, ISO 3834) across all welding activities.
  • Provide technical guidance on welding procedures involving super duplex, alloy steel, Inconel, and various material combinations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and QA/QC teams in technical reviews and constructability discussions.
  • Conduct RCA for welding defects or failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings, welding procedures, and isometric spool sheets.
  • Maintain welding documentation including WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
  • Coordinate inspections, NDT activities.
  • Monitor welding consumables, equipment calibration, and maintenance schedules.
  • Should have knowledge of RT interpretation

You are meant for this job if:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in oil and gas welding operations, with strong expertise in TIG and orbital welding.
  • Hands-on experience with super duplex, alloy steel, Inconel, and their combinations.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, ISO).
  • Proven ability to conduct RCA and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Welding inspection certification (e.g., CSWIP, AWS-CWI) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with digital QA/QC systems and welding documentation tools.
