Job Purpose

Leads a team in one of the following groups focused on Subsea Production System (SPS) equipment engineering or Subsea Umbilical, Risers and flowlines (SURF) engineering.

  • Product/Applications Engineering or New Product Development & Product Life-Cycle Management
    • Christmas Trees, Tubing Hanger, Valves, Chokes, Structural Frames, Connectors, Templates, UTA, SDU, Jumpers, Manifolds, Wellheads, Risers, Landing String, IWOCS, EDP, LRP etc
    • Installation and Construction Engineering
    • Rigid Pipeline Engineering
    • Flexibles and Umbilicals Engineering

 

Provides oversight and management of a team of engineers in achieving executional and strategic goals.

 

Responsible for engineering execution, resource utilization, team development, and development of engineering initiatives, associated budgets, schedules and supporting resource plans.

 

Although this is a resource manager role, frequent use of relevant industry knowledge/experience, with specific focus on subsea production equipment and associated manufacturing and Installation processes is relied upon heavily; and is essential for being successful in the role.

Manages a team of up to 25 direct reports, comprising of engineering professionals of various experience and skill sets.

Job Description

Staff organization with necessary talent, day to day management of projects and resources, and development of schedules, budgets and execution plans.

Process Operator for the following:

  • Overall delivery of technical deliverables of the group
  • Leadership of technical issue resolution
  • Productive utilization and absorption of engineering resources
  • Prioritization and planning of engineering activities and deliverables
  • Technical talent management, engineering development

Process Owner for the following:

  • Product/discipline engineering scope
  • QN/SN technical disposition for the product/discipline
  • Review and approval, and quality of technical designs and documentation

May reviews and approve engineering designs and technical documentation.

Supports offshore and offsite field technical issues and leads technical communications with customers when required.

Additional Description

Accountable for engineering resource development, management and retention. This includes:

  • Provides inputs for engineering headcount forecast, based on project demand
  • Sets pertinent objectives for direct reports that support the overall strategy and direction.
  • Setup and maintains a strong engineering organization structure and team culture.
  • Manages completion of annual PDD and LDR processes, and maintains documentation on succession plans and future potential.
  • Develops career plans for resources, along with relevant training and development plans.

   Accountable for driving continuous improvement of execution processes in engineering team, in alignment with overall business processes and objectives. This includes:

  • Monitors KPIs to continuously monitor and communicate engineering performance.
  • Leads teams to identify and tackle root causes to prevent reoccurrences of engineering challenges and issues.
  • Implements and maintains engineering processes based on Lean Engineering Philosophy with the aim to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensures lesson learnt and best practices are captured, shared and implemented across projects and engineering disciplines.

Motivates and empowers engineering resources to perform at consistently high levels, removes barriers, and holds them accountable for work output.

Builds the environment to foster collaboration and team work.

You are meant for this job if:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with at least eight years of relevant industry experience, or a Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration, with at least six years of relevant industry experience.

At least three years of supervisory experience in leading multi discipline engineering team, preferably in Subsea Production System (SPS) equipment or in Installation and Construction of subsea products.

Experience and knowledge of subsea production system equipment design, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, life of field and Installation & Construction of Subsea products.

Experience managing new product development, product life cycle management, or project/applications engineering focused teams.

Knowledge of design, manufacturing, inspection, auditing, calibration, data analysis techniques, and quality cost principles.

Knowledge and experience with various API, ASME, ISO, NORSOK, ANSI codes and standards.

Proficient in various productivity enhancement, scheduling, planning, and engineering management software and tools.

Advanced analytical, problem solving, accuracy, attention to details, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to establish deadlines for the team, manage priorities, and effectively achieve the goals in fast paced environment is critical.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is essential to effectively coach, mentor, and develop the team. Ability to foster communication within diverse cultural environments.

Ability to plan, communicate/present concepts and reports on complex topics with the ability to persuade and influence others as needed.

Ability to give and receive constructive feedback/coaching and to respond appropriately.
