Job Purpose

Applies existing data science techniques to new problems and datasets using specialised programming techniques.
Selects from existing data sources and prepares data to be used by data science models.
Evaluates the outcomes and performance of data science models. Identifies and implements opportunities to train and improve models and the data they use.
Publishes and reports on model outputs to meet customer needs and conforming to agreed standards.

Job Description

Main Accountabilities

Establishes strategic recommendations on data collections incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices 
Identifies and evaluates relevancy of data sources both internal and external, in collaboration with subject matter experts and IT stakeholders 
Develops innovative and effective approaches to solve analytics problems through the application of data mining, feature engineering, scenario modelling, advanced algorithms, machine learning, experimental design, and hypothesis testing 
Works with the development team to ensure relevant analytics and data is utilized in digital services 
Suggests improvements to business metrics for the digital services 
Structures and presents data insights in easy to understand terms for external stakeholders

Job Scope

Works with disciplines and technical teams to reorganize data, analzye data, and create predictive insights that guide business behaviors, according to compliance and TPFMC Standards

Typical profile/ Must have

BSc Required, MSc/PhD preferred in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
(Experience can compensate for lack of formal competency)
BSC with 5+ years of experience or MSc/PhD with 5+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, data analysis, or software development 
5+ years of programming experience in R, python, or other data science language 
Competent in creating and optimizing SQL and shell scripts 
Capable of analyzing, wrangling, and joining varied datasets 
Capable of using machine learning platforms to design, build, test, refine, and deploy predictive models 
Capable of building high-quality graphical visualizations of data 
Capable of effectively structuring information and communicating insights in presentations
