Job Purpose

Hiring a Welder for Houston, TX location!  The Welder works under direct supervision and follows detailed Welding Procedure Specifications, Weld Maps, Houston Operation Quality Manual, Houston Operating Procedures, Engineering Drawings and DBI (Data Base Information) requirements. Develops basic problem solving skills to resolve routine questions. Frequently consults more experienced staff for assistance. Should be able to operate equipment or work center independently after initial training period.

Job Description

  • Operates welding tasks under general supervision
  • Interface with departmental staff/supervisor and team leads. May interface with internal and some external partners.
  • Develops the skill necessary to perform Flux core welding at TechnipFMC.
  • Bevel and grind pipe to insure proper fit-up
  • Learn to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts.
  • Learn to performs fit-up and weld out of projects following established procedures and instructions. 
  • Perform more advanced functions as part of training and development. 
  • Resolve routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Learn to inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards. 
  • Learn to complete inspection documentation. 
  • Reports all discrepancies with manufacturing standards.
  • Support 5s (workplace organization), practices good housekeeping and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
  • Learn to layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
  • Learns and follows safety procedures/rules. 
  • Participates in safety awareness program.
  • Operate welding tools following standard specifications
  • Control the welding operations

You are meant for this job if:

  • High school diploma or GED with mechanical skills.
  • Up to one year of experience.
  • Training at a Trade School, Welding Apprentice Program or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Six months mechanical experience preferred.
  • Basic English written and communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work with other team members to complete projects/work scope
  • Exposure to manufacturing or welding environment preferred.
  • Must have ability to use measuring equipment such as a tape measure and protractor. 
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment, hand tools and power tools. 
  • Must have the ability to comprehend detailed internal documents such as machining and fabrication engineering drawings, bills of material and work orders, quality and safety documents. 
  • Must be able to understand written descriptions on work orders and be able to perform basic math problems.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Spend 90% time in a shop/field environment. May be exposed to possible hazards including noise, outdoor temperature extremes, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and welding fumes, heat, flash burns, skin burns, high noise level, eye injuries (from welding arc and grinders). 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Hands-on labor in shop and/or field environment, which requires lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and some climbing. Vision must be correctable to 20/20.
