Job Purpose

TechnipFMC is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work in their project office in Houston, Texas to support a variety of local and international projects. Depending on the qualifications of the person hired for this role, the responsibilities will vary, but this person could be involved in the design and analysis of permanent and temporary subsea structures, installation aids, lifting appliances, seafastening and deck strength checks on offshore vessels. There will be a requirement to attend fabrication yards, spool bases and vessel mobilizations to support project activities as required. The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for structural integrity, timeliness and cost effectiveness of all designs under their control and shall ensure that all design and design activities meet the requirements of the project and are fit for purpose.

Job Description

  • Perform engineering work related to design, procurement, manufacturing, and installation within their discipline.

  • Produce structural designs from concept to completion, including calculations, reviews, and approvals.

  • Conduct structural analysis using approved design tools and software to ensure integrity.

  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Engage in project meetings and facilitate inter-discipline communication for design input.

  • Provide technical support during fabrication, including handling design changes and inspection reports.

  • Interface with Clients/Vendors on design, manufacturing, fabrication, and inspection matters.

  • Manage project documentation and coordinate drafting to meet project deliverables.

  • Support tender and procurement activities by developing technical input and reviewing submissions.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to QHSE compliance and company standards.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Engineering Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Ocean and Naval (B. Eng. or equivalent).
  • Team player with good communication and organization skills and the ability to interact within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Previous experience using ANSYS Workbench and/or Spaceclaim and/or STAAD.Pro and/or SACS with experience in the design of permanent subsea structures (PLETs, PLEMs, Manifolds, UTAs etc.), installation aids, lifting appliances and seafastening would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the marine and or subsea industry is an asset.
