Job Purpose

Hiring Project Planner for Subsea Services in Houston, TX!  This role is responsible for planning the manufacturing (internal/subcontract) or purchasing of assigned parts, components or assemblies to meet customer demand.  In this role, you will use SAP to plan and monitor the flow of material, components or inventory required to deliver on customer demand.   Also, responsible for on time delivery of product(s) to customer demand.

 

Job Description

  • Utilize MRP to optimize and create lean flow methodology within the planning system.
  • Consolidates and analyses information from Project Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing, and Planning to recommend stocking levels with management approval.
  • Serves as the primary internal contact between Sourcing, Supply Chain, Product Group / Delivery Team and Project Manager for planning issues. Ensures that the product status and progress are effectively communicated to the Project Manager and Project Scheduler.
  • Meets regularly with Project Manager, Project Scheduler, and Buyers to update the schedule in a centralized data base (Primavera).
  • Prepares input to reports for the Planning and Operations Team including consolidated product schedule summary updates, inventory, and PIR status
  • Ensures that manufacturing plans are updated on a regular basis based on input from supply chain, engineering, manufacturing constraints, MRP schedule alerts, and changing project requirements.  This is done in collaboration with Production Control.
  • Reviews and participates in preparation of Variation Order Requests, and implements accepted Variation Orders Changes in MRP.
  • Participates and gives input to project schedule for Tender purposes to ensure product supply plan is in place and achievable through use of inventory or supplier lead times.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all Material Masters for assigned commodities in all SDS Plants.  (Lead Time & Standard Cost and all other required material master settings).
  • Responsible for recommending, defining (upon management approval) and maintenance of all stocking levels.
  • Ensures all planned orders are clean to buy prior to being passed on to the Buyer.
  • Collaborating with Sourcing Team on defining vendor held stocking levels and materials in complete alignment with the BfP.
  • In Collaboration with Buyer, follows up with all open purchase orders and ensures SAP Purchase Order dates are accurate to support a healthy MRP system.
  • Establishes regular reviews with SDS Production Control to review production/service order shortages to ensure any expediting of purchased materials from the assigned commodity group are addressed.
  • Accountable for on time delivery of commodity group.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Operations, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • APICS certification or specialty training in materials/production control area strongly desired.
  • At least five years of experience performing inventory analysis, supply/demand analysis and reconciliation, and/or manufacturing scheduling in materials planning, scheduling, production control or procurement with advanced knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of typical procurement and manufacturing processes, as well as a thorough understanding of typical ERP system capabilities, inputs and outputs.
  • Able to read and understand manufacturing routings.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of BOM structures and supply/demand information related to sales order items.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and negotiation skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume and fast paced environment.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications required.
  • Extensive SAP system understanding in manufacturing.  SAP MD04 command mastery is preferred.
  • P6 experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes. Technical experience preferred.

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Houston Operating Procedures, Quality & Safety Training. Intermediate Materials Management/Planning Techniques and concepts. APICS classes working toward certification. Systems training (SAP and P6), Product training and Synchronous Flow Manufacturing Techniques. PC software including spreadsheet and word processing, print interpretation and negotiation skills training. May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Office environment with frequent trips to the shop and to other offices in the plant. Some exposure to possible shop hazards including high noise, heavy machinery and shop traffic.  Fast paced environment with repetitive transactions. Multiple priorities and constant change. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent walking and standing in shop during final project stages.  Frequent sitting and operating PC.
