Job Purpose

This position will report to the HSE Manager/Director for Subsea Projects.  It will support Subsea projects for the Gulf of Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana Subsea business units. Seeking a hard-working, dedicated and focused Health, Safety and Environmental professional to join our team.  The position plays a critical role in promoting a positive safety culture as well as developing, implementing and administering effective health, safety and environmental programs across all aspects of the project.

Job Description

Promoting and supporting an HSE culture from within by leading the implementation of core HSE programs, policies, and initiatives. Oversee tendering for Subsea projects. Participate in  incident investigations. Advises on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, environmental and occupational diseases. Assists with case management and/or following up on occupational injuries/illnesses. Coaches with respect to Risk Assessments, at-risk activities, unsafe conditions, and safety improvement opportunities. Creates and modifies HSE policies, processes, and procedures. Act as a steward for Environnmental management; SWPPP, RCRA, SPCC, etc. Review of bid tender specifications and submission of bid HSE deliverables to the bid coordinator. Development of all project HSE document deliverables including but not limited to; HSE Plan; Emergency Response Plan; bridging documents; Self Verification Plan; and Subcontractor Management Plan. Monitors for regulatory compliance – site assessments both internal and external. Trains, monitors and coaches employees in order to improve skill level to ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards of HSE processes in a reliable and cost-effective manner. Leads or facilitates incident investigations and guides the team on the correct use of the TOPSET tool. Develops KPI reports. Facilitates HAZID workshops and provides recommendations on measure to control hazards and mitigate risk. Prepares documentation, information and communications as required. Examples include but are not limited to: Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports, Monthly project HSE reports and PPT presentations; and Project Management Review reports. Monitors and reports on the closeout of actions which are the results of audits, site visits, incident investigations, HAZOBs and/or BBS observations. Performs other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position

You are meant for this job if:

Education & Experience:

  • At least five years of related SURF project operational experience or 5 years related HSE experience in SURF Projects
  • In depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local HSE regulations, i.e. OSHA , BSEE, SEMS, TCEQ, EPA etc.
  • Ability to identify deviations from standards
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills related to functional areas and understanding impact to the overall business
  • Proficient in applicable software applications including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Subject matter expert in the following functional HSE programs preferred: Incident Investigation and Reporting / Root Cause Analysis;
  • Risk Assessment and or Bowtie; Certified lead auditor; and Risk Assessment (Hazard Identification [HAZID] or Hazard Operability [HAZOP] studies.
  • Works in office environment approximately 75% of the time using standard office equipment.
  • Works in workshop and manufacturing environments 25% of the time, which involves moderate exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, noise levels, inclement weather and shop machinery.
  • Requires assistance and close proximity to containerized chemicals and wastes. 
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC, BOSIET, and OGUK physical. Potential for extended walking, bending, climbing, stooping and moderate lifting daily. Periodic assistance handling containerized chemicals and wastes by hand or mechanical means.
