Job Purpose

The objective of the Material Planner is to ensure that the organization has the required materials available in stock at the right quantity and at the right moment in time. This role manages procurement planning activities, material master data accuracy, and inventory control processes to support operational efficiency, cost management, and supply chain performance. The Material Planner collaborates closely with Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, and other Planning functions to drive effective material planning and execution.

Job Description

1 . Procurement Planning

  • Analyze output of MRP and investigate what mitigating actions are available if demand and supply do not align. Monitor and act on exception messages from MRP runs.
  • Continuous evaluation of MRP master data to optimize procurement, service level, and inventory level.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively address supply shortages, delays, and capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to ensure material availability aligns with production requirements.
  • Expedite critical materials and coordinate with stakeholders to mitigate supply risks.
  • Support engineering changes and phase-out activities from a material planning perspective.

2. Material Master Data Management

  • Create and maintain master data in collaboration with other business areas such as procurement, finance, logistics, and engineering.
  • Conduct analysis of effect of change for ECN before release and provide recommendations to Engineering.
  • Follow-up on released ECN’s to create SNs or QNs depending upon findings.
  • Maintain accurate and complete material master data within SAP including, but not limited to:
    • Extending/sourcing new parts
    • MRP Lead Time
    • Purchasing Group information
    • MRP Controller Information
    • A/B/C Indicators (criticality of part)
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and data governance standards.

3. Inventory Control

  • Monitor inventory levels to achieve established service, inventory, and working capital objectives.
  • Analyze inventory trends, excess and obsolete inventory, slow-moving materials, and stock discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement inventory reduction and optimization strategies while maintaining service levels.
  • Review and adjust safety stock levels based on demand variability, lead times, and business requirements.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Evaluate  consumption of inventory to determine qualifications for stocking programs and regularly review stocking program materials for desired performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, turnover, and overall supply chain performance.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in material planning, supply chain, inventory management, or procurement.
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems, including MRP, Material Master, and Inventory Management modules.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles, MRP planning, and supply chain best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication (English language) and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS/ASCM Certification (CPIM or CSCP).
  • Demonstrated experience in service-based environments supporting the oil and gas sector.
  • Knowledge of BOM management, supply planning, and ERP master data governance.

  • Supplier on-time delivery performance.
  • Inventory turns and inventory value.
  • Excess and obsolete inventory reduction.
  • Material master data accuracy.
  • MRP exception management and shortage resolution.
