Job Purpose
Hiring an Inside Sales Representative for Houston, TX! This role is primarily a customer service function and entails working in close conjunction with an Account Manager. Account Manager interfacing includes requests for quotations, lead times, expediting, or changes, the building of quotations, and communicating pertinent information proactively back to Account Managers. Extensive commercial knowledge as well as superior problem solving skills is also required.
This position also serves as the primary internal contact for sales and marketing so it is critical that this position foster great relationships with this team. Must be a team player with a remarkable attitude who is goal oriented and can think outside the box. Excellent time management and organizational skills are also a must in this position. The drive to go the extra mile for every customer, every time, as well as the determination to follow-up and follow-through for all customer transactions is required.
Must be able to determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions. It’s required to recommend alternative products based on cost, availability, or specifications. Must also help drive inventory reduction.
It is vital to provide information quickly and accurately to the Account Manager regarding expected shipment and delivery dates.
Job Description
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with account managers and marketing personnel.
- Contributes to the reduction of inventory through additional sales and recommendations
- Account Manager interfacing includes requests for quotations, lead times, expediting, or changes, the building of quotations, and communicating pertinent information proactively back to account managers.
- Coordinate the preparation of complex proposals.
- Collecting cost input from the various product groups and ensure that the commercial quality in our tenders are aligned with the managements strategies.
- Assists sales in commercial responsibilities (customer discounts, margin analysis, tender commercial strategy, etc.)
- Drives to improve internal processes and eliminate non-value added tasks.
- Manages specific projects as required
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor’s degree in BS/BA in Engineering or Business related field. MBA preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant inside sales and/or engineering experience
- Industry knowledge is preferred.
- Strong ability to persuade and influence the broader organization regarding concepts, policies, compliance, and risks. Facilitate problem resolution with more complex issues.
- Commitment to enhancing the customer experience.
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to be a change agent.
- Ensures cooperation/interaction across diverse stakeholders, often managing conflicting interests.
- Some ERP experience, SAP preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office Products – emphasis placed in Excel.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is critical
- Commitment to teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration.
- Demonstrates exceptional presentation, communication, negotiation, planning, interpersonal skills, and ability to handle sensitive communications.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple, and often conflicting priorities is critical.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily works in an office environment. There will be multiple priorities to manage and constant change.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting and operating a computer or participating in meetings.
