HSE Enabling Tech Intern

Job Purpose
TechnipFMC’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Security Department is seeking a motivated and technically‑savvy intern to join our Physical-AI Laboratory. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and validate AI‑driven solutions that enhance the safety and operational efficiency of complex industrial systems. The internship offers hands‑on experience in cutting‑edge research and development, exposure to real‑world engineering challenges, and the opportunity to contribute directly to projects that impact the safety of offshore and onshore operations.
Job Description
- Develop and refine machine‑learning models that detect, monitor, and respond to HSE events in real time.
- Integrate AI models with embedded hardware, specifically Nvidia Jetson series devices, to enable real‑time inference at-the-edge.
- Collect, preprocess, and analyze sensor data from HSE monitoring systems; build data pipelines and feature extraction workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers to translate research prototypes into deployable solutions, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
- Document methodologies, results, and best practices for internal knowledge sharing and external publication.
You are meant for this job if:
- AI Fundamentals: Solid grasp of supervised/unsupervised learning, neural network architectures, model training and evaluation, and hyper‑parameter tuning. Familiarity with transfer learning and edge‑AI deployment is a plus.
- Embedded Systems & Hardware Integration: Practical experience with Nvidia Jetson TX/NX/AGX devices, including JetPack SDK, CUDA, and Jetson‑specific libraries (e.g., TensorRT). Understanding of hardware‑software co‑design principles and real‑time constraints.
- Possess the eligibility to work 40 hours/week

- Texas state resident; located in the Greater Houston Area
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Prior internship or project experience involving AI deployment on embedded platforms, preferably within industrial or safety‑critical domains.
- Strong analytical mindset, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a collaborative attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus (Portuguese).
- Coding Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) Ability to write clean, modular code and use version control (Git).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
80-90% of time spent on a computer. 10% - 20% could be for travel to participate in Company offered co-op functions or local office visit. Fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
