Job Purpose

The Financial Analyst II will coordinate with internal and external partners to complete assigned tasks related to the project financial life cycle. This position reports to the Finance Manager, Project Controls in Houston, TX.

Job Description

  • Work closely with the Senior Project Controller and Project Manager(s) in managing costs and revenues vs budget
  • Provide month-end support by preparing journal entries and working capital support by assisting in A/R collections and ensuring required comments are updated
  • Provide financial support to the project team to include, but not limited to, WBS/Project creation, financial reporting, collections, project close-out, monthly EAC and project reviews preparation and assistance
  • Assist with process improvements in the month-end, billing, and operations processes
  • Assist with implementing changes where applicable to enhance the department’s efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Maintain good internal controls and policies based on accounting principles and financial standards regarding project accounting
  • Proficiency in project financial management – creating and maintaining billing milestones, tracking labor and material costs, understanding different commercial terms (cost plus, fixed price, time & material), managing invoicing and collections, analyzing project actual, committed, and planned costs

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or equivalent years of work experience
  • Minimum of 4+ years accounting experience, with a minimum 2-3 years in project accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of Accounting and Financial principles, including US GAAP
  • Advanced PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and contributing to team performance
  • Solid ability to work independently and solve complex, non-recurring problems
  • Detail oriented with strong trouble-shooting skills
  • Disciplined with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
