Job Purpose
The Global Engineering Planning Director is responsible for managing strategic, tactical, new technology, product life-cycle management, and test lab planning for One Engineering globally. This includes overseeing sales and operations planning and management across all levels of engineering. The role focuses on setting directions, strategy, and guidelines for the company’s One Engineering functional planning across strategic, tactical, and project planning domains, spanning all geographies. The Global Engineering Planning Director manages demand for all Subsea, Surface, and New Technology projects, as well as capacities for the entire One Engineering population, which represents 25% of TechnipFMC dispersed across the world.
Job Description
Strategic Planning:
- Sets standards, develops, and manages global demand and capacity planning processes for One Engineering, including deployment of guidelines and planning big rules.
- Leads and manages the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for three levels of the organization (L1, L2, L3) across Subsea and Surface GBUs, in collaboration with REMS and Commercial.
- Manages scenario planning changes in the business environment and provides timely responses for strategic and business planning priorities.
- Deploys and manages KPIs, risk management, help chain management, and key SSI programs.
- Integrates UDP, tender information, and product strategy into S&OP and supports deployment of integrated planning tools and systems with Digital and other value streams.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for Engineering Planning, providing executive and senior leadership with insights on key business scenario changes.
Tactical Planning:
- Manages teams that support day-to-day project planning and management for various engineering and manufacturing sites worldwide.
- Establishes engineering planning guidelines and KPIs to measure and track project performance across all projects within Subsea and Surface GBUs. Ensure adherence to these guidelines across all projects within Subsea and Surface GBUs.
- Integrates cost/hours, labor, and resource planning into tactical project planning.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Master scheduling for projects based on project, subsystem strategy, and site strategies and manages month-on-month change driven due to change in business scenario, and tactical issues.
- Conduct project/subsystem level analysis, reporting on project On-Time Deliveries (OTDs), milestones, actual hours/costs, and value destruction.
- Provide insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
- Lead key improvement programs in planning and project management, leveraging global engineering operations.
- Support the iEPCI execution model by driving efficiency gains.
Technology Projects Planning:
- Define project planning, execution, and reporting guidelines for all NPD/PLM projects across Subsea, Surface, and New Energy.
- Establish standard reporting for project progress, key milestones, KPIs, and KSFs.
Global Test Labs Planning:
- Develop strategy, roadmaps and lead master scheduling efforts for key test lab operations across multiple locations (India, US, Brazil, UK, France, Singapore).
- Coordinate global test labs demand and supply planning for short/medium/long term planning horizon including management of project schedules and milestones.
- Lead and support various SSI initiatives for demand planning, synergies and capacity enhancement across all Test Labs in the company.
You are meant for this job if:
Education: Bachelors in Engineering, Business, Planning, Project Management or related field. Master's degree preferred. APICS, PMP and other related certification preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 15 years within the company, with a significant portion of that experience focused on project management and planning. Ideally, this experience should include managing one of the main GBUs or the REMS function on a global scale.
Planning Expertise: Proficiency in planning systems and a deep understanding of company operations across Subsea and Surface domains. Familiarity with engineering processes is essential.
Collaborative Skills: Ability to work seamlessly across geographies and collaborate with leadership (including ELT and below) to address dynamic problems spanning business, strategic, and tactical aspects.
People Management: Direct experience in leading a diverse global team, including project managers, planning specialists, and business analysts. The role will involve overseeing 50+ employees located in our engineering and manufacturing locations across the globe.
