Job Purpose

Position is accountable for the effective execution of procurement activities for the full purchase-to-pay cycle for complex and strategic Purchase Orders for a project or series of projects within a high tempo environment of an operating Service Base. Serves as local focal point for procurement process and activities, implementing procurement strategies and activities to mitigate risk and deliver to budget, schedule, quality, cost, etc. Duties include preparing and initiating invitation to bids for Supplier selection, negotiation, Purchase Order award, and Purchase Order close-out of material and services.

Job Description

  • Works under minimum supervision on assignments that are broad in nature, requiring initiative, originality and ingenuity. 
  • Works closely with Category Management to ensure strategic alignment. Collaborates with the sourcing team to develop and implement the appropriate sourcing and commercial strategy for the procurement of equipment, materials, and direct services.
  • Prepare and launch open and closed invitations to bid using the company ERP tool, expedite responses and serve as the single point-of-contact for Supplier inquiries.
  • Negotiate best prices and commercial conditions with suppliers within budgetary limits and scope of authority, manage contractual negotiations in line with legal recommendations and facilitate or lead Pre-Award meetings or proposal clarification meetings with suppliers and Project personnel to ensure alignment.
  • Serves as technical expert for leverage scope supporting the global organization.
  • Prepare and issue Purchase Orders and amendments per the assigned Delegations of Authority and manage supplier acknowledgements, ensuring the output is accurate and error free.
  • In alignment with the Sourcing Team, maintain relationships with key suppliers in assigned category or categories to provide maximum utilization of their expertise, ideas, methods, market intelligence, best practices and material application in order to achieve the best value.
  • Initiates quality review of Purchasing documentation, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance of all department procedures and guidelines.
  • Leads supplier conference calls or meetings for the resolution or mitigation plans of key or critical issues to ensure alignment with project expectations.
  • Interacts with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment in order to fulfill job requirements. Expected to actively participate in cross-functional team efforts and projects as the opportunity arises.
  • Maintains the highest level of ethical and professional standards of conduct as established by the organization while recognizing specific behaviors, which contributes to Procurement fraud.
  • Efficient utilization of company systems, tools and spreadsheets
  • Champion safety, quality, delivery, and cost with suppliers to ensure requirements are met on a consistent basis.
  • May participate in special projects and assignments regarding Lean initiatives and continuous process improvement

You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business management, engineering or equivalent
  • Generally 8+ years procurement experience
  • Strong written and effective verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient PC skills including spreadsheet and word processing and SAP or similar mainframe experience.
  • Ability to work and excel in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytic and negotiation skill
  • Ability to recognize contractual requirements and variances from standards and procedures to ensure local and global compliance, with ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. Recognize when consultation with other departments is needed.
  • Understanding of Services business processes

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Describe general working conditions (i.e. noise level, temperature, around heavy machinery) Spends a minimum of 95% of the time in an office environment. Potential shop exposure if visiting that work environment for short periods of time which may require lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and some climbing. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Describe amount & frequency of physical requirements of the position (i.e. lifting, pushing, climbing) Office environment requires sitting, operating a computer, walking and some lifting. Some potential exposure to possible shop hazards when visiting certain suppliers as well as the shop/field environment that includes high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic.
