Job Purpose

This position is a beginner to intermediate level position where the employee is expected to be able to complete work with increasing independence. A Workshop Engineer I is a critical player in ensuring proper planning and execution of post-manufacturing services to our customers.  A Workshop Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: team's technical resource, repair guidance on damaged equipment, workshop instructions and on-site equipment support for advanced products, authoring and approval of technical documentation, customer interface, RCA resolution, product maintenance, upgrade/conversion, repair, and refurbishment.

Job Description

  • No direct reports, but often oversees the work of one or more professionals or technicians on a project basis.
  • Participates and manages standardization/improvement projects.
  • Owns and maintains task lists.
  • Develops strong relationships with the shop technicians, customer, Customer Service team and Technical Services Engineering team.
  • Analyzes and interprets data independently. Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action. 
  • Approves work instructions and engineering documentation to mobilize, refurbish, upgrade/convert, maintain, and preserve equipment.
  • Supports Field non-conformance investigations, RCAs, and SN resolution.
  • Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions. Identifies root cause of problems. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.
  • Participates in product and task standardization projects.
  • Shares opinions, ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals; fosters teamwork and collaboration, builds trust.
  • Interprets, applies and trains others on relevant policies & procedures.
  • Ability to independently establish work tasks in order to successfully meet expectations

You are meant for this job if:

  • Must have a completed a Bachelor's in Engineering
  • Capable of producing standard technical product documentation
  • Capable of solving technical issues 
  • Knowledgeable in how changes influence system engineering cost
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards and quality requirements
  • Capable of leading internal meetings
  • Work Environment:  Fast paced office atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change.    Frequent engagement with internal and external contacts.  Frequent visits to the workshop.
  • Physical Demands:  Frequent meetings, sitting for long periods of time, operating a computer, observing workshop activities, working on/around equipment in the workshop.
