Surface Technologies


Surface Technologies serves the onshore and shallow water markets from well to export pipeline. It supplies wellheads and surface trees, as well as drilling, completions, pressure pumping, production, and measurement equipment worldwide, and frac and flowback services. Our technologies aim to reduce cost and carbon intensity, driven by actionable data and automation. The roles advertised will primarily focus on surface wellheads and trees and tooling.

Main Duties

  • Generate and lead conceptual designs or customise existing designs for proposals or projects from customer or internally generated specifications and prepare design layouts.
  • Verify designs where necessary using classical analysis techniques (bending, buckling, shear, bearing, and pressure vessel)
  • Present designs to engineering staff during internal design review; prepare and/or review BOMs, documents and drawings.  Selecting raw materials, coatings, and quality requirements as necessary
  • Support product lifecycle from sales, tendering, system and product design through to service and aftermarket support

You are meant for this job if:

  • You have experience of specifying and designing engineered products
  • You have experience in performing classical calculations and/or using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to drive design decisions (if applicable for role)
  • For more senior roles, we’d hope you’d like to coach our more junior members of the engineering department, such as Apprentices, Graduate Engineers, and Designers
  • Beneficial you’ll have worked with engineering product databases/systems such as ERP systems
  • Advantageous to have experience in the oil and gas industry, especially within wellhead and tree products
  • You’ll understand how to deliver design solutions and tasks in a project-based environment (risk factors, priorities, scheduling)
