Job Purpose

We are seeking a motivated and capable NDE Engineer to join our Core Technologies Projects & Tenders team in Dunfermline.

 

We welcome applications from individuals at various stages of their careers, from those looking to begin their journey in NDE/NDT through to experienced engineers seeking technical leadership opportunities.

 

Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) covers a range of inspection techniques used to evaluate materials, welds and components without causing damage or affecting their future usability. Methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing and dye penetrant testing are used to identify defects or discontinuities that could compromise the integrity of an asset.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the TechnipFMC product portfolio, supporting the inspection, qualification, and integrity assessment of critical assets and welded structures used globally. NDE/NDT plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability and compliance of our equipment and, working in this role, you will help prevent failures, reduce downtime, and extend asset life, as well as protecting personnel, the environment and business operations.

 

Successful candidates will be supported in their professional development, including progression through industry-recognised certification schemes and advancement towards higher levels of technical responsibility.

Job Description

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform NDE/NDT activities in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Represent TechnipFMC as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more NDE/NDT methods, including surface and volumetric examination techniques.
  • Review and interpret inspection results and prepare technical reports.
  • Support welding, fabrication, maintenance, and asset integrity programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, procedures, safety and quality requirements.
  • Liaise with project teams, engineering teams, manufacturing teams, clients, inspectors, suppliers, and certification bodies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, procedures, and best practices.
  • For experienced candidates, provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to developing NDE/NDT personnel.

  • Engineering, technical, scientific, or industry-related background.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings.
  • Willingness to travel to customer, manufacturing and supplier sites when required.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

 

Preferred

 

Independent certification to Level 2 or 3 in one or more NDE/NDT methods such as:

    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Radiographic Testing (RT)
    • Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
    • Eddy Current Testing (ET)
