Job Purpose

Process engineering information, under the control of TFMC’s electronic data management system working to current industry codes, contract specifications, Dunfermline Operating Procedures and FMC Global Work Instructions.

Job Description

  • Generate conceptual designs or customise existing designs for proposals or projects from customer or internally generated specifications and prepare design layouts. Verify designs where necessary using classical analysis techniques (bending, buckling, shear, bearing, and pressure vessel) and where necessary Numerical Analysis methods.
  • Present designs to engineering staff during internal design review; prepare part specifications and review detailed drawings.  Selecting raw materials, coatings, and quality requirements as necessary.
  • Make necessary engineering changes to product drawings and part reports and participate in investigation and disposition of non-conformances.
  • Generate equipment assembly, test, FAT, qualification, handling, storage, rework, maintenance and commissioning procedures as required.
  • Provide necessary support to the various internal departments- manufacturing, planning, QA, commercial, purchasing, assembly etc. throughout the product design and delivery; field service as required for training and offshore support.

 

You are meant for this job if:

Essential Skills

  • Relevant Engineering Degree qualification
  • 3D CAD modelling experience
  • FEA Skills
  • Ability to perform basic problem solving, and root cause analysis

Desirable 

  • Preferably Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • NX or similar 3D modelling software experience
  • Preferable FEA skills in ANSYS
  • Preferably using lean tools, such as A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams etc

Essential Competencies

  • Mechanical/Structural design aptitude, able to develop design ideas from concept to release for manufacture
  • Good ability to communicate verbally and written
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience of Mechanical/Structural design and analysis

Desirable

  • Preferable design skills in Oil & Gas equipment, or other heavy engineering discipline
