CAD Drafter

Job Purpose
As a CAD designer, you will lead the production of fabrication, stack-up, and sequence drawings in accordance with TechnipFMC standards, with a permanent concern for quality, targets, and customer satisfaction. Process information, under the control of TechnipFMC’s electronic data management system. You will also provide advice and assistance to other group members on modelling / CAD best practice and support with the coaching and mentoring of CAD Apprentices and trainees.
Job Description
Main accountabilities
- Produce Manufacturing Component 3D Model and 2D Drawing information, and process information through to review stage, to agreed timescales, enabling drawing package to be released for manufacture, inspection, assembly, and test.
- Perform the role of CAD design lead on various TechnipFMC products. Lead the production of 3D Model / 2D drawings for tolerance stack-up, assembly, exploded assembly, running procedure, interference fits and clashes, to agreed timescales for the following, as required by projects: Conceptual Design Layouts from inception of design (from freehand sketch / verbal instruction, marked up layouts), for quotes, concepts, Research and Development, and the System Engineering phase of a project. Attend design reviews when required to support any CAD related questions. Input to the design discussions.
- Highlight task alterations and timescales slippage to CAD Lead and Design Engineer
- Full understanding of electronic data management system to be able to generate Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s), Part Reports and Quality Notifications (QN’s). TCE Reviewer status.
- Communication with relevant cross functional groups during tasks (e.g. CAD, Engineering or Manufacture Engineering) and participate in cross functional teams and cross functional training. Provide feedback to the CAD and Engineering teams to assist with the execution of tasks when CAD Lead is unavailable. Attend daily / weekly team meetings if updates are required
- Able to produce Part Reports and other engineering documentation at the request of the Design Engineer/Engineering team. Perform draughting reviews on various types of TechnipFMC equipment

Skills
Essential:
- Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Design or equivalent, or experience in a design environment using 3D design applications to create layouts, tolerance stack-ups, schematics and manufacturing information from detail drawings to full assembly drawings, including draughting review responsibilities.
- HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Highly experienced with the Products and Engineering Processes used within TechnipFMC.
- Experience of unigraphics / siemens NX.
