An Apprenticeship with us is a perfect way to continue your education over a four-year period at the same time as enjoying a competitive salary. When you successfully complete your TechnipFMC apprenticeship, you will achieve an NC, HNC and Modern Apprenticeship in your chosen field. You will undertake a structured training programme of academic study and office and workshop training to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the production requirements of a world-leading oil and gas equipment supplier.

At Dunfermline, we manufacture systems used to control and monitor subsea oil wells which you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to.

The Programme

TechnipFMC has open opportunities across the business within the following areas at their Dunfermline site: 

 

Machinist:
A workshop-based apprenticeship. Produce components using a variety of CNC horizontal boring, machining centres or lathes. Read and understand engineering drawings and documentation then measure machined parts recording sizes. Whilst doing all this comply with site and regulatory Health and Safety Guidelines. 

 

Weld and Fabrication:
A workshop-based apprenticeship. Weld and Fabricate Components to a very high specification using various welding processes GTAW, Fronius ETR system and Autogenous orbital welding. Read and understand engineering drawings and documentation. Comply with site and regulatory Health and Safety Guidelines. 

 

Assembly and Test: 
A workshop-based apprenticeship. The primary skill set of an Assembly/Test apprentice is Assembling and Pressure Testing a wide range of complex subsea production systems adhering to specific safety and quality standards. Additional learnt skills over the apprenticeship will include installation of hydraulic tubing and autogenous orbital welding. Read and understand engineering drawings and documentation. Comply with site and regulatory Health and Safety Guidelines. 

 

NDT (Non-Destructive Testing):
This is a workshop-based activity using wide group of methods used in many industries to test and evaluate a wide range of materials; to find and evaluate any flaws or defects in them and to ensure they are fit for their design purpose. An NDT Technician must be highly skilled and have a broad knowledge of the industry sector and materials he is working with as well as the various techniques he can employ to give him/her the best possible chance to locate and evaluate any flaws or defects that could be in the material being tested. 

 

The Programme

CAD (Computer Aided Design): 
This will consist of an office-based apprenticeship where you will gain the engineering skills and knowledge to become a CAD Designer. This program will include a workshop rotation period to fully understand the plant operation. Collaborating with the engineering team, you learn industry standards that are crucial when designing products for the Oil & Gas industry. 

 

Supplier Quality: 
This will consist of an office-based apprenticeship with workshop knowledge building elements, where you will gain the knowledge of a variety of Manufacturing processes to support you in becoming a Supplier Quality Engineer. Midway through your apprenticeship you will return to the SQ department to focus on building skills and knowledge required to manage & develop Suppliers from a Technical and Quality perspective. 
Travel will possibly be involved in year 3-4.

 

Quality: 
This will be a multi disciplined apprenticeship across several facets of the quality department, which will include working within the office alongside quality engineers, the assembly and test workshop to gain practical mechanical knowledge and the inspection and calibration departments. This rotation will provide you the required knowledge and skills to become flexible across the Quality engineer and Quality Technician roles within Technipfmc. Midway through your apprenticeship you will return to the quality department where you will further develop your skills and knowledge to support the quality function. 

 

Global Sourcing Procurement:
During your apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain operations. You will learn how to secure and purchase goods / services, prepare / issue purchase orders, ensure compliance with company policies. You will develop skills in supplier relationships, including obtaining quotes, negotiating prices, ensuring timely deliveries.  You will also have an opportunity to conduct market research to identify and assess potential suppliers, review / manage contracts working closely with internal teams to meet procurement needs. You will build expertise in maintaining accurate procurement records, preparing reports and budgets contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, you will be engaged in Global supply chain development strategies including new product introduction and capacity management.  There will be a possibility of national/international travel. 

What we're looking for

To be considered for an apprenticeship at TechnipFMC you must have a minimum of four National qualifications at Level 5, Four Standard Grades at credit level or equivalents, including English, Maths, and a science (Physics is preferred). Technical subjects would be an advantage.

•    Suitable candidates will be selected to attend an aptitude test and site tour (3 hrs max) 
•    Selected candidates will then be invited to attend our half day assessment centre which will include group exercises, Individual exercise, individual interviews & program overview presentation.  
•    If successful, you will receive a conditional offer subject to references and medical.
