Job Purpose
Reports to the Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager at the Manufacturing Operations facility, located in Davis, CA. The Schilling Business Unit manufactures remotely operated vehicles and robotic manipulators for the deep ocean energy industry. The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials to achieve the production schedule and support new product and supplier development as needed. Main function is to issue P.O. per demand in the ERP system, follow up on open orders, and resolve quality issues (RTV as needed). Key deliverables insure parts meet specifications, meet on-time delivery and competitive pricing. This position will interact with all Departments within the Company, vendors and Subject Matter Experts to ensure that the Schilling Robotics Supply Chain meets Customer requirement. This position may on occasion support indirect spend categories in addition to production materials and tools. Building effective supplier relationships is critical to the success of the business.
Job Description

Request and analyze bid pricing from qualified suppliers, adhering to the Schilling supplier qualification process to meet cost objectives.

Assess suppliers' capabilities in maintaining quality, on-time delivery (OTD), and cost efficiency; develop strategies to address performance gaps.

Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the New Product Development process to identify innovative technologies that align with Schilling Robotics subsea systems' design requirements.

Develop robust commodity strategies tailored to Schilling Product specifications and future needs as outlined in the Schilling Robotics Technology/Product roadmap.

Negotiate commercial terms and agreements with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained.

Facilitate and lead supplier scorecard reviews, site visits, and quarterly business reviews to monitor and enhance supplier performance.

Utilize TechnipFMC resources to implement industry best practices, optimize pricing, and elevate supplier performance standards.

Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to ensure continuous business operations and minimize disruptions.
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in purchasing or a relevant field, such as planning.
- 5+ years of proficiency with ERP/MRP or equivalent systems.
- Proven success in developing strategies to reduce inventory and parts costs without sacrificing on-time delivery.
- Hands-on experience with commodity groups like Machined Parts, Additive Manufacturing, Hydraulic Motors and Controls, Electronic Components and Assemblies, and COTS parts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as a team player within cross-functional groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
