Job Purpose
Hiring Continuous Improvement Engineer for Davis, CA! The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer 1 is responsible for designing and fabricating production tooling and equipment, participating and Co leading Lean process and tooling improvement Kaizen events in our manufacturing facility using Lean principles.
This role will be onsite at Davis, CA.
Job Description
- Participate in Kaizen events and support production Supervisors and Manufacturing Engineers with tooling and process improvements.
- Designs and fabricates new tooling and fixtures, or repairs and improves existing tools and fixtures.
- Participates in process observation and value stream mapping to understand processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and define improvement activities.
- Co-Leads and participates in Kaizen events and improvement efforts.
- Identifies, collects and analyzes relevant data for current state and improvements. Documents and communicates the results.
- Measures, documents, and communicates SQDC improvements for Lean activities.
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or similar field
- 0-3 years of experience in related field
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Demonstrated ability to design, and fabricate tooling and fixtures using Mills, Lathes, 3D printers, CNC equipment, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong CAD Skills, preferably in Solidworks
- Interest in learning about different operational processes and investigating improvement opportunities.

- Experience with production management tools like standardized work documents, countermeasure boards, SQDC kiosks
- Experience facilitating problem solving activities
- Other duties, as assigned.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, read, listen, and speak.
- Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Regularly required to sit & stand for long periods of time.
- Frequent use of PC
- Near large equipment including forklifts and machine shop equipment
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
