Job Purpose

The Major functions of the senior welding engineer are:

  • Reviews and interprets technical requirements (industrial specifications &/or customer(s) specifications) in order to develop sound procedures for manufacturing execution.
  • Renders technical support to production team and functional operation groups to streamline process flow
  • Improve cost effectiveness of manufacturing by looking into ways to improvise current process.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop new welding procedures (as required)
  • Support supplier audits (as required)
  • Design reviews with product designing in order to optimize manufacturing cost of products
  • Develop local weld instructions for streamline of processes

Job Description

  • Review and interpret customer/industrial specifications
  • Give recommendation to design engineering team at design review stage
  • Participate in department discussions relating to technical issues and lessons learnt
  • Shows commitment to QHSE through participation in safety and quality initiatives
  • Understand the workflow for the control of welding documentation and issuance of weld procedures for a project
  • Maintain and develop new Weld Procedures
  • Support supplier audits as required
  • Endorse Welder Qualification & certification
  • Endorse LWI related to industrial codes/practices
  • Develop LWI for new processes
  • Be involved in  DFX is conversations
  • Involve in audits (Adherence to codes & specs)
  • Welding Engineering Governance - Process Control
  • Support tenders and product engineering quotation activities

You are meant for this job if:

  1. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/FORMAL EDUCATION:
    • Bachelor's degree in materials Science/Engineering or equivalent
  2. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Generally, 3 years in relevant industry experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATE(S):

    • BEng Degree Certificate
  1. REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
    • Possess good problem-solving skills in order to provide technical solutions
    • Possess drive and initiative to communicate & gather information independently.
    • Demonstrate effective presentative skills Demonstrate ability to guide and mentor others
