Job Purpose

  • Manage certain projects and the crew members
  • Assists with HSE incident investigations and reports
  • Conducts and leads HSE audits and inspections
  • Coaches with respect to all HSE subjects and risk management tools
  • Conduct HSES training
  • Conduct regular HSES meetings
  • Prepares, Audits and Maintains JSA and HRA documents for the site

Job Description

• Coordinates, designs, develops, and implements integrated QHSES Management systems for an entity

• Proactively interacts and informally influences site managers to ensure that QHSE matters are effectively managed according to standards

• Leads, develops, and implements audits and action plans as validated by the management team

• Provides training & awareness on QHSES activities

• Ensures proper implementation of criticality rating system and surveillance for procured items

• Helps in defining site objectives and metrics (KPI), ensures reporting is in place, analyses performance, proposes corrective or improvement actions and reports

• Leads or participates in investigations to resolve quality and HSES issues, conducting root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions and ensuring they are effectively executed

• Ensures that a system is in place whereby only approved suppliers and sub-contractors are used

• Coordinates reporting to the QHSES Region management

You are meant for this job if:

Education & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in HSES (Engineering degree for HSES Engineer only, equivalent qualification for HSES Analyst)
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial projects or engineering
  • QHSE process knowledge on sites or project

 

Technical & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Basic knowledge Local HSE regulations.
  • Technician position within the HSE department learning to apply basic knowledge of applicable theories, practices and accepted procedures.
  • Ability to identify deviations from standards.
  • Basic knowledge of the following functional HSE programs preferred:
  1. Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO)
  2. Management of Change (MOC) Process
  3. Incident Investigation and Reporting
  4. Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  5. Risk Assessment (Hazard Identification [HAZID] or Hazard Operability [HAZOP] studies
  6. Understands and efficiently uses basic computer hardware and software to perform tasks.

 

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Able to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately.
  • Able to manage team members and develop their plan
  • Able to articulate and substantiate own point of view to peers and supervisors.
  • Capable of preparing and delivering presentations and reports.
  • Able to learn and work on HSE reporting systems (uploading data and extracting reports)
  • Able to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to work under pressure and within time constraints

 

Work Environment: 

  • Works in office environment approximately 20% of the time using standard office equipment.
  • Works in shop manufacturing and service facility environments 80% of the time, which involves moderate exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, noise levels, inclement weather and shop machinery.
  • Requires assistance and close proximity to containerized chemicals and wastes. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Potential for extended walking, bending, climbing, stooping and moderate lifting daily. 
  • Periodic assistance handling containerized chemicals and wastes by hand or mechanical means.

  • Exposure to workshop and yard area in an environment with dirt, grease and dust. At times work in hot and cold weather.
