Job Purpose

In this key leadership role based in our Altens office in Aberdeen, you’ll drive Quality and HSES excellence across Surface UK operations in both Aberdeen and Dunfermline. This role is key to ensuring robust processes and systems that support our business goals and deliver outstanding results.

As a trusted influencer, you’ll build strong relationships while managing and developing the Quality and HSES functions in alignment with TechnipFMC’s strategy, policies, and industry standards.

Job Description

Responsibilities will include:

 

Leadership & Culture

  • Mentor, coach, and inspire your team to build a strong Quality and HSE culture.
  • Drive QHSES awareness and continuous improvement across all UK bases.
  • Act as a trusted influencer, promoting best practices and positive behaviours.

 

QHSES Management

  • Implement and monitor our Business Process Management System (BPMS).
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations.
  • Develop and maintain QHSES policies and programs aligned with TechnipFMC standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Support initiatives like standardization and 5S.
  • Oversee Management Reviews and KPI reporting.
  • Facilitate Non-Conformance and CAPA processes.
  • Align QHSES objectives with business True North goals.

 

Risk & Change Management

  • Coach teams on risk assessment methodologies.
  • Promote and guide the Management of Change (MOC) process.

 

Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct internal audits and support regional programs.
  • Prepare for and manage external audits (certification bodies, customer audits).
  • Ensure compliance with API Q2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and HSE legislation.

 

Training & Development

  • Deliver QHSES training and awareness initiatives.

 

Operational Support

  • Encourage proactive hazard identification and reporting.
  • Monitor environmental aspects (waste, emissions, spill prevention).
  • Review client/project documentation and support tender/bid processes.

 

Security & Emergency Response

  • Act as site Security focal point and emergency response team member.
  • Maintain risk assessments and crisis management plans.

 

Incident Management

  • Lead investigations using TapRooT, TopSet, and other recognized methodologies.
  • Conduct safety drills and behavioural safety observations.

 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the Quality team.
  • Foster accountability, safety, and quality across all functions.
  • Support operational readiness and continuous improvement.

You are meant for this job if:

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

 

Experience

  • Proven experience in HSES, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control.
  • Energy industry background (preferred).
  • Strong PC skills (Office 365); ERP knowledge (SAP desirable).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in root cause analysis and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of Lean tools and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and API Q2

Additional information

Additional Areas: Visits to workshop and storage areas required, these environments may be noisy, dusty, subject to temperature variations depending on the season.  

 

May be opportunities to travel to other Surface locations to attend training events, participate in audits, operational meetings.
