Job Purpose
The Principal Engineer in the Metallics Materials Fabrication and Centre of Expertise (COE) will be responsible for leading research and development initiatives, with a strong focus on Simplification, Standardisation, and Industrialisation (SSI) of metallic materials and fabrication processes. This role will support various projects across TechnipFMC, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation. The Principal Engineer will also provide world-class customer support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Job Description
- Lead and manage research and development projects to advance metallic materials and fabrication technologies.
- Drive initiatives focused on Simplification, Standardisation, and Industrialisation (SSI) of materials and processes.
- Lead product development and qualification efforts.
- Oversee supplier qualification and industrialisation processes.
- Conduct technical audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on material selection, fabrication techniques, and quality control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of material and fabrication strategies with project goals.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, procedures, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in materials science and fabrication technologies.
- Support the life cycle of all products and systems, applying expertise in materials science, metallurgy, welding, and NDT.
- Participate in strategic global planning for the materials discipline to ensure consistent availability of competent resources.
- Engage in technical negotiations with clients and suppliers as needed.
- Provide input for the development of R&D proposal for future activities;
- Participate in product and process development activities, particularly where related to pipe / new pipe materials, and identify new/key pipe product & materials opportunities for the Group.
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Vast amount of experience in metallic materials and fabrication processes.
- Strong knowledge of material properties, testing methods, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience with industry standards and regulations related to metallic materials and fabrication.
- Proven track record in leading R&D projects and driving SSI initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Understanding of the full delivery scope (SURF, SPS, and Services) of iEPCI projects.
