Job Purpose
The System Engineering Department Manager is responsible for managing a team of System Integration Engineers working within the offshore energy industry, in compliance with company policy and procedure, and in a manner which achieves project and business objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People development.
In this role, the successful candidate will represent the discipline towards management, clients, vendors, subcontractors and projects in the best way possible. To achieve this, the System Engineering Department Manager will have responsibility for the recruitment of qualified individuals to perform system engineering tasks, monitoring of staff performance, and management of resources, as well as allocation of resources to projects and proposals. This responsibility extends to maintaining and developing the proficiency of Department personnel in terms of Working methods, Technical training, and Career planning of individuals.
Job Description
Leading a team of highly competent engineers, it is the System Engineering Manager responsibility to:
- Provide direction and leadership to the System Integration engineers during the pre-award and project execution phases of a project, helping to reduce project execution risk while maintaining compliance with business objectives.
- Understand and help to highlight to the business key technical, schedule, and commercial requirements, project risks and challenges, from the early project phase through to offshore commissioning and close-out.
- Liaise with and build strong relationships with TechnipFMC subsystem stakeholders, ensuring that the system engineering team role is well understood within the business.
- Focus the system engineering team to ensure that the right work is delivered at the right time.
- Ensure team competency and capability are maintained and grown, including the development and maintenance of engineering tools, procedures, and departmental processes.
- Provide guidance to the System Integration team, defining and shaping the work the team does and is responsible for.
Qualifications (Professional, Technical, Academic)
Essential:

Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture Degree (BSc with honours, MSc or equivalent). Candidates not meeting this requirement but with extensive experience in similar roles will be considered.
Preferred:

Additional post-graduate qualification(s), chartered status with relevant professional institution.
Skills
Essential:
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Has commercial understanding and awareness including contractual and supplier management experience.
Preferred:
- Has worked with suppliers, operators, or design consultancies working on Field Development and Field Architecture.
- Project Management or Engineering Management Experience.
- Familiarity with all technical aspects of the system engineering discipline and awareness of TechnipFMC product lines.
