Job Purpose

The HSE Compliance and Governance Advisor will fulfil a key role within the HSE Team for a duration of 12 months. This role will support the development and maintenance of governance frameworks for managing UK Subsea Projects in accordance with the associated requirements.

Job Scope

The HSE Compliance and Governance Advisor will provide specialist HSE advice, guidance and support to Project Team’s and other departments within the business unit, and be the primary focal point for regulatory compliance, maintenance of the management system, audit and tender requirements. The Governance and Compliance Advisor will actively support HSE management in measuring performance, identifying trends and assisting in the development of safety initiatives where required.

Job Description

Main accountabilities:

 

Regulatory Compliance

  • Act as focal point for regulatory compliance within relevant business unit and global representatives
  • Maintain legal register and ensure communication of changes which may impact relevant Business Unit
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders (project management teams, other departments, clients, suppliers, subcontractors)
  • Support in the development, implementation, and review of the management systems applications to ensure continual improvement
  • Lead the roll out and communication of standards, policies, and procedures to all levels of the organisation 
  • Prepare and deliver regular HSE performance reports for management review and approval

 

Governance  

  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the audit schedules on behalf of BU related activities
  • Review audit reports and related documents and ensure that capture of communication of relevant lessons learned
  • Act as focal point for external audits e.g., Client, Achilles, DNV, LRQA, etc.

 

Tender Support 

  • Coordinate HSE resources to support tendering requirements 
  • Review tendering responses and related documents to ensure a consistent standard is maintained


Other associated activities

  • Support HSE Management in developing and implementing goals and strategies and assist with project execution as required.
  • Support HSE Management in reviewing and monitoring of QHSES Incident Reporting and identifying trends and lessons learned.
  •  Facilitate Intelex cases relating to Governance and Compliance.
  • Proactively interface with key internal stakeholders, Engineering Department, Operations Department, Marine Operations etc. 
  • Liaise with 3rd party providers (Chemical management database for example) to ensure appropriate management of requirements 
  • Liaise with Global HSE Compliance Team
  • Any other HSE Requirements deemed necessary to support HSE department 
     

You are meant for this job if:

Must have:

  • A recognised HSE qualification, NEBOSH NGC or equivalent.
  •  Experience in a related industry.
  • An excellent working knowledge of UK HSE and Marine legislation, and application of this to onshore and subsea construction activities.
  • Formal auditing qualification with experience in leading and participating in audits, both internally and externally.
  • Formal incident investigation training with experience in leading and participating in incident investigations and sharing and implementation of any lessons learned.
  • Fully conversant in the application and maintenance of HSE Management Systems.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to influence positive attitudes and safety behaviours at all levels within an organisation.
  • Experience of coaching and/or mentoring.
  •  Good working knowledge of IT systems.

 

Nice to have:

  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
  •  Active membership of a recognised professional body for safety and health (e.g. IOSH).
  • Experience of delivering HSE / Behavioural Based Safety training.
