Job Purpose
Under close supervision, the HSE Associate will support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines as instructed. This role contributes to the delivery of HSE excellence across the company’s global offshore marine operations. Responsibilities include assisting with risk identification, incident reporting and investigation, and ensuring compliance with HSE standards. The associate will also participate in audits, inspections, and assessments, while performing record-keeping and general administrative tasks. Assignments are typically well-defined and structured to support development and learning within the HSE function.
Job Description
As a HSE Associate, you will support with:
- Document development and review.
- HSE department support.
- Internal + Supplier audits.
- Vessel / Operational support (under guidance).
- Develop knowledge of existing developments in, quality, health and safety and environmental legislation, directives, standards and / or practices as appropriate
- Provide health and safety and environmental support as required to assist the implementation of HSE policies and requirements.
- Support the HSE team to progress toward HSE targets and objectives.
- Support the review and update Company health and safety and environmental system documentation ensuring compliance with legislation, HSES Policy, ISM Code, ISO 14001 and Corporate Standards and Guidelines.
Are you meant for this role?
Essential:
- A good foundation of education, or Higher National Diploma level, or equivelent technical or practical experience.
- Intermediate level experience of working with MS Offices software.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience of formal Quality, Environmental or Safety Management Systems and Procedures in adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974, the ISM Code or similar, or;
- Relevant technical training in health and safety and environmental management and / or National recognised qualification in occupational health and safety management.

Additional Information
- Development role created to support delivery of HSE requirements of the Business Management System (BMS) across VSO.
- HSE Associate will be developed using a competency matrix to attain the Knowledge, Skill and experiential requirement for promotion to Assistant HSE Superintendent.
- Assistance will also be provided to meet the requirements for full membership of IOSH.
This entry-level role is full time and office-based in Westhill, Aberdeen. Applicants must hold the right to work in the UK.
