Job Purpose
The Pipelay Equipment Engineer (PEE) works under the direction of the Pipelay Systems Superintendent and assists with technical expertise and reporting functions wih specific emphasis on asset integrity. The PEE liaises with the vessel Pipelay Systems Supervisor (PSS) and Chief Pipleay Engineer (CPE) to ensure that maintenance is carried out on pipelay systems to required company standards. Undertake other duties as required by the Pipelay Systems Superintendent.
Job Description
- Engineering – ensuring the rigid reel lay pipelay assets are fully maintained, fit for purpose for maximum up-time in accordance with the company internal pipelay performance standards, statutory and legislative requirements and original equipment manufacturers guidelines. Provide technical, contractual and commercial advice to other inter department project teams as required.
- Conditional assessments are conducted frequently and accurately present the current condition of the system. Good integration with projects and vessel execution team to assist with identification and execution of upgrades.
- Planned maintenance and spares holding – effective planning and execution of maintenance working in close liaison with the vessel Chief Pipelay Engineer and Pipelay System Supervisor. Ensuring spares holding is accurate, well maintained and available as required.
- Finance – timely submission of OPEX and CAPEX spend requests ensuring accurate and detailed information is provided and fully justified. Day to day control of budgets including accurate forecasting of spend.
- Management of change – close liaison with vessel Chief Pipelay Engineer to ensure any hardware, software or procedural changes to the pipelay systems are controlled using company management of change procedures and processes and suitably engineered with the required justifications and mitigations.
- Planning and Scheduling – working in close liaison with vessel Chief Pipelay Engineer for development of schedules for repair/maintenance periods, dockings and upgrades. Day to day control and reporting of the schedule during these periods providing accurate status and forecasting.
- QHSE – To demonstrate leadership with the company procedures and policies for Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment in regards to the day to day operations of the pipelay systems.
- Procedures – to maintain all pipelay procedures and documentation ensuring all are up to date, relevant, available and approved.
- On-site supervision – be available to visit vessel during dry dock/maintenance periods to assist with onsite planning and execution of planned works, be fully conversant with company PTW system and be able to manage/work with onboard teams including subcontractors with view to completion of works in timely safe/manner.
- Assist the Project Manager in the provision of detailed reports including schedule, progress, technical completion, variations, cost control on a minimum of a monthly basis.
- Liaise with classification societies, legislative bodies and third party inspectors to maintain compliance to the latest rules and regulations regarding design, manufacture, commissioning and inspection

Qualifications (professional, technical, academic):
Essential:
- HNC/HND or degree qualified in a relevant engineering or project management discipline.
Preferred:
- Degree in an engineering discipline, with relevant experience, or
- As a minimum HNC/HND with proven practical marine or equipment experience.
