Job Purpose

An RP&IT Engineer is a key member of the team, seeking to use their technical and professional experience to deliver optimum solutions for both project support and R&D activities.   

Main Accountabilities

To deliver optimum solutions for both project support and R&D activities.  

  • Ensure the quality of work issued is high and conforms to RP&IT and Group procedures. 
  • Seek advice and input from Geotechnics Manager and Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer on challenging projects. 
  • Consolidate Group experience in discipline. 
  • Promote experience and good practice throughout the TechnipFMC Group. 
  • Be conversant with the latest industry developments. 

Project Support 

  • Provide the main link between project management teams and RP&IT. 
  • Liaise with project management teams to identify the motives for any given work request, ensure the scope of work agreed is suitable and that the task is completed within the agreed timeframe. 

R&D 

  • Effectively manage on-going R&D programs to ensure they are completed to forecast schedule and budget.

Typical Background & Experience Required:

An RP&IT Geotechnical Engineer will hold a high-quality degree in Civil Engineering. A post-graduate degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering is desired but not essential.  
An RP&IT Geotechnical Engineer must be able to apply geotechnical engineering principles to the full range of offshore geotechnical engineering problems faced by the TechnipFMC Group.   
 

  • Design soil parameter interpretation from available geotechnical & geophysical data.   
  • Site Investigation recommendations on type and quantity of tests required 
  • Geotechnical risk assessments 
  • Subsea Structure Foundation Design (gravity base, driven pile & suction pile) to ISO, DNVGL or API standards - foundation capacity and installation design 
  • Pipeline-Soil Interaction assessments to DNVGL F114 
  • Trenching assessments 
  • Ability to deal easily and effectively with a wide range of audiences. 
  • Ability to understand and meet the needs of customers as appropriate and deliver what was agreed within defined time frame.
  • The ability to constantly achieve results within defined timeframes.  The drive to do things better and compete against a standard of excellence. 
  • The ability to develop and put forward new and better ways of doing things.  It includes challenging established ways of doing things by suggesting better alternatives.
