Job Purpose
Provide technical support to Electrical, DP and Marine Control systems for OneFleet vessels, sites and departments and lead project scopes of work specific to this role.
Reporting Lines and Interactions
Hierarchically reports to: E&I System Superintendent
Operationally reports to: Technical Manager, Asset Managers, Vessel Superintendents, Vessel Chief Engineers
Directly supervises: 3rd Party Vendors and key sub-contractors
Key interactions (internally, externally):
Internal: Fleet Projects Teams, Vessel Superintendents, Vessel Crews, Asset Managers, Operations Engineers, Various disciplines within Asset Operations such as control systems, pipelay, dive, cranes and ROV, Marine New Build teams
External: 3rd party engineering companies and vendors
Job Scope
- Provide technical support to ensure the operation, modification and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems associated with company assets / vessels are fully operational and in compliance with current legislation
- Ensure the efficient execution of projects (office and site) based tasks within the agreed time frames and budgets as per company project management processes
- To directly supervise and control 3rd party suppliers, including direct onsite/on-board supervision. This includes ensuring compliance with TechnipFMC procedures and standards including safety and quality
Job Description
Main accountabilities:
Electrical:
- Provide technical support fleet-wide, covering vessel electrical infrastructure supporting:
- High voltage systems, power generation and switchgear
- Low voltage systems, power generation and switchgear
- Power management systems, control units and svc interface
- Protection systems and relays
- Provide guidance and technical documentation for upgrade and modification work on all electrical systems
- Control and develop fleet wide maintenance schedules
- Provide technical cover and emergency response support, including travel/vessel attendance, incident investigation
- Develop specifications, liaise with suppliers, review tenders and procure electrical equipment, systems, hardware and software
Instrumentation:
- Provide technical support, fleet wide to cover vessel instrumentation including:
- Propulsion control systems
- DP control and position reference systems
- Navigation systems
- Vessel monitoring systems including alarm systems, PA, PMS, Condition monitoring systems
- Life-saving systems, fire detection, gas detection, fixed fire-fighting systems
Interface:
- Liaise and support across other technical disciplines for all electrical and instrumentation interfaces
- Support and feed into conceptual design studies for new assets, to ensure electrical infrastructure is fit for
- purpose and a robust design including future upgrade/expansion options are comprehensively considered
- Technical review of options for modifications and life extension
Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications:
Preferred:
- HNC/HND or degree qualification in electrical engineering
Typical background and experience required:
Essential:
- Experience of the design, installation, modifications and support of marine electrical systems
- Knowledge of vessel electrical/instrumentation equipment and operating routines
- Knowledge of electrical (Marine) systems or HV / power and generation and project management procedures
- Experience in offshore/marine industry
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining HV and LV power distribution equipment (Marine)
- Knowledge of DP, navigation and bridge equipment
- Ability to communicate/discuss technical requirements between operators, vendors and colleagues
- Experience in supervising project specifications and vendors
- Basic/Intermediate computer skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
- Ability to understand electrical drawings, concepts and designs
Nice to have:
- HNC/HND or degree qualification in electrical engineering
- Experience in offshore/marine industry
- Experience of operating, maintaining and commissioning HV and LV power distribution equipment
- Knowledge of planned maintenance systems
- Experience in project management (cost control, schedules, planning)
- Operational knowledge of DP, navigation and bridge equipment
- Familiar with classification society regulations for marine installations
- Knowledge of FMEA and FMECA processes
- Excellent computer and IT skills, including MS Project
- Experience of equipment design, drawings, documentation
