Job Purpose

Responsible for carrying out, in a safe and diligent manner, tasks or routines which he is directed to do by the Barge Foreman, Rigging Supervisor, Offshore Construction Supervisor, or out with project operations the Chief Engineer and follows OneFleet crane operating procedures. Responsible for ensuring that the crane is operated within its safe working limits.

Job Description

Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria):
• Familiar with emergency duties and relevant company procedures, policies and instructions
• Responsible for the safe operation of any crane as required during lifting operations
• Assisting with the maintenance of cranes under direction of the Chief Engineer/Crane Tech
• Assisting the construction crew as required whilst also liaising with Chief Engineer and Crane Technician
• Performing a pre-use visual examination of crane to be used, complete the relevant checklist and report to the Bridge that the crane checks have been completed
• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment being used and maintain the cleanliness of the working area
• Carry out equipment and fabric maintenance of the crane as directed by the Chief Engineer or Crane Technician, which includes but is not limited to external washing down, cleaning routines, surface preparation and painting, lashing and securing in storage areas and greasing routines
• Shall be expected to maintain a fire watch as required
• Assist the mooring party during mooring/unmooring operations, the rigging of gangways and the deployment/recovery of pilot ladders, as required
• Undertake other mutually agreed tasks as deemed appropriate by the Chief Engineer

• Report any crane issues to crane technician or Chief Engineer

Qualifications

Essential:
Qualification as per BS7121/API RP2D-2 Edition 1 Training October 2020 defines the competence levels assigned to OCOs. These are stages or classes 1, 2 & 3 or A, B & C. Corresponding competencies are as follows:

  • Stage/Class 1 Supervised Trainee (must only operate under supervision)
  • Stage/Class 2 Restricted Operator (certain conditions placed on their activities)
  • Stage/Class 3 Unrestricted Operator (permitted to operate any crane)

 

 

Typical background and experience required:


Essential

  • Compliance with TechnipFMC in-house crane standards
  • Ability to drive Crane on Vessel in all expected conditions and loads
